Hello,

Is there anyone with info regarding the new 1 year Medical Visa?

Other than 90 day reporting. Is it multiple entry?

Do you need to get it from your own country?

Or can apply from here? I have been seriously ill and would like to continue my treatments with my specialists here.

Home country is pretty far away, but if I need to go back I will.

Thank you very much.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about a new 1-year Medical Visa for Thailand, specifically asking about its application process, reporting requirements, and whether it can be obtained domestically or requires travel back to their home country. Responses clarified that while a 12-month medical visa does not exist, shorter-term options are available for medical care. Discussions pointed towards a recent approval by the Thai Cabinet for a new medical visa, with additional information being sought for further clarity.

I asked the Thai Embassy of my home country. The visa is available and the conditions required to apply for it.

I confirmed it with Bumrungrad as well.

I wanted to know if anyone else had more information or has applied for it.

You can possibly get an extension for medical reasons if you're unable to travel for medical reasons and it comes with a letter from the hospital treating you. But that obviously wouldn't apply in your case as you indicated you can travel

You can get shorter term visas for medical care but, they are not medical visas

Correct, the Tourist eVisa application lists medical as an option for the reason for travel

There is no new 12 month medical visa.

typical Thai media clickbait. It was even worse during covid. Nothing is official until it's published as law in the royal gazette. This has not been and I haven't heard anything about it. Probably not coming any time soon, if ever.
