Is there a coordinated effort to question Digital Nomad Visa holders upon entry to Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
After seeing the post from someone who said they were given the 3rd degree entering the other day Iwill share today's entry story. With some background.

- Oct 3rd 2025: 1st entry with DTV through Suvarnabhumi

- End of Oct 2025: Flew to Cambodia for 2 weeks via Don Mueang

- Beginning of Nov 2025: Returned to Thailand via Don Mueang

- Mid-January 2026: Flew to Cambodia for 6 weeks via Don Mueang

- March 1: re-entered Thailand via Don Mueang

- March 7: Flew to Manila via Suvarnabhumi

- March 14: Returned to Thailand via Suvarnabhumi

I was not asked any questions about reason for my visit. Proof of funds, etc, etc, etc. So there is no coordinated effort to trip up DTV holders. If the incidents people have posted about extra questions and screening are real they are very much random in nature and the exception not the rule.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a personal experience of entering Thailand multiple times on a DTV visa without facing inquiries from immigration officers, contrasting it with reports from others claiming to have experienced thorough questioning. The comments highlight a debate on whether entry experiences are typical or exceptional, emphasizing that while some travelers have had trouble-free entries, others have faced random questioning, suggesting a lack of coherence in immigration practices. Various comments support the notion that such encounters might be random rather than a systematic targeting of DTV holders.

"So there is no effort to trip up DTVs", So you're assuming that immigration officers have time to question every single entry and that you represent 100% of entries into Thailand? 🤔😏 There is a right balance between 0% questioned and 100% questioned as for any other visa types.

I was one of the very first DTV holders, in and out maybe a dozen times and the only issue I ever had was the first entry. That was only because the IO had never dealt with a DTV before and had to call a supervisor over to walk her through how to process it. They were both very kind & courteous and apologized multiple times.

If you have the wrong visa or wrong purpose, if you know you abuse the system, than even a nicely asked how long are you going to stay, or what places are you going to visit this time, could be seen as a third degree interrigation or waterboarding by Immigration.

It is all in the eyes of the believer.

8 entries and exits on DTV. 0 problems for me. 0 problems observed with others.

The IOs are processing one person every 60-90 seconds. How can they have time to hassle every traveler?

Random people will be questioned, no need to make it visa specific.

Agreed! There is actually less reason to interrogate a DTV holder upon entry because they are already ‘known’ to Thailand.

Exactly! The vast majority don’t report having a trouble free experience because they feel it isn’t ‘report worthy’.

Not saying otherwise, but why does your experience mean other people’s experience is the exception to the rule and not your experience is the exception to the rule?

DTV_BegPecker the assumption is that anonymous people are trying to scare people with invented stories to increase sale of fast lane

That doesn't make sense, if immigration/agents want to sell the SPECIAL LANE (fast lane is used by business class and others who don't want to wait), all they have to do is increase the checks at the borders.

I suspect it happens but it's not common. People it happens to are more likely to post. I'm sceptical it's some coordinated effort to sell fast lane.

I would argue that this is a crazy assumption. I always use fast lane, not because of DTV concerns, but because of issues with my knees and not being able to stand in lines for long periods of time. A few times in the last few months fast pass options have been sold out, so don’t think they are having sale issues. I just think that 1% of DTV holders end up getting interrogated randomly, an IO in a bad mood, etc.

I get that, but this wasn’t the original poster’s rational. She said her rational for declaring her statement is just based on her experience and was simply highlighting that technically one can’t do that.
