What are the experiences at the Thailand entry border with a DTV Visa, especially regarding questions and potential rejections?

Arrived Bangkok a few days ago with a new DTV Visa issued in Vancouver.

Thirty Seconds until six month entry stamp. Zero Questions. Female IO.

I am curious. Despite some people getting thouroughly questioned upon entry, has anyone had FIRST HAND experience of actually getting rejected from entry at the border with a DTV Visa, or are these concerns unwarranted?

Also does anyone getting thoroughly questioned or verified come from what might be labeled a first world country or travel on a top tier passport (ie. Western Europe, Five Eyes Nation, Japan/S Koreaโ€ฆ

And if questioned thoroughly, or asked for extra information, was your visa issued in Laos or Vietnam?

Curious if there are any patterns of inquiry.

(Please keep this thread kind. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses experiences and inquiries regarding entry into Thailand with a DTV visa. The author, recently arrived in Bangkok, is curious about the likelihood of being denied entry and whether rigorous questioning at the border correlates with issuing countries of the visa. Commenters share their experiences, noting that they faced minimal to no questioning upon entry, and suggest that previous visa history may influence border control scrutiny. Many express that there have been no reported cases of denied entry associated with the DTV visa.

People rarely post about NOT having problems.

I've been in and out on DTV about every month the last year with no hassles.

I suspect the people being question have had an extensive history of long-term stay in Thailand using visa-exempt entry. This will put a red flag on their file activating secondary screening. There have been no reports of denied entry with a DTV visa.

why would they have been issued a DTV if they have 'red flags' ?

When you have a valid visa, comply to the visa rules, nothing very special in your files, entering should be easy.

Wow. So do you think the visa validity changes based on where it was issued? I want to go to neighbouring Vietnam for my DTV application

Anonieme deelnemer 556 Visa validity is not different on where you did get the visa.

What maybe is a difference is that when you are a visa tourist, they just might check more often.

Anonymous participant 556 I thought there were some mention that they were more cautious with Vietnamese or Laos DTV Visa, because of some scam that was being run through one of them.

But I really donโ€™t know. Can be all random.

Extensive history of staying in Thailand with student visa, business visa, volunteer visa, and countless visa exemptions. I have a Swedish passport.

I got my DTV in Vietnam in the workcation category, so far I have had my original entry from Vietnam + 1 from Laos + 1 from Malaysia.

So far no questions asked, but after reading people's reports I'm dreading my next entry.

They did not ask me anything. I have an extensive history of stays, between 6 and 8 month stays for many years in a row. When i showed up with the DTV I was stamped in after 30 seconds. Not a word was said.

If you have no visa history then youโ€™re all good, nothing to worry about! But yes if you have visa history they will ask a few questions. Not sure why people keep saying thatโ€™s trolls.

Anonymous I came into the country twice in 2025 and stayed 90 days each time on a visa exemption/plus extension. Zero issues. One of which was even a border run to Laos with same hour re-entry.

When arriving on DTV still zero issues or questions.

Iโ€™m just curious if itโ€™s all random, or if they are profiling. Thus the questions.

Yes you seem un troll like to me. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
