Just sharing our experience entering Thailand with DTV:
My partner and I entered through BKK yesterday morning. For me it was the 5th time entering on my DTV, for my partner the 1st time. We both had our visa laminated in passport size.
I had to get a new passport last August, so when I entered again in September I brought my old passport. Back then the IO didn’t care for my old passport and gave it back without looking at it.
This time though, the IO did want to see my old passport and actively compared the data in my passports to each other and to the data on her screen. No further questions asked, got a DTV stamp with 180 days.
My partner got his stamp almost immediately, without any questions.
So, super easy entry once again (like all my other entries).
Also, almost no line at immigration (6am).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post shares a positive experience of entering Thailand with a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). The author, who has entered Thailand multiple times with the DTV, noted that the immigration officer carefully checked the author's old passport alongside the new one. The partner, entering for the first time, experienced a quick entry without questions. The post emphasizes the ease of entry, especially during early morning hours due to fewer arrivals and fewer lines at immigration. Several comments discuss the benefits of early arrivals and provide insights about onward ticket requirements and hotel bookings.
There are much fewer arrivals around that time. I always ty to arrive 1-6 AM., as you mentioned, you can breeze thru immigration, very different to peak hour arrival time,
No, an onward ticket is not needed with visas such as the DTV. Present your DTV upon check in and you should be fine. I have never bought an onward ticket with the DTV and no probs and many others have posted the same. You can leave it blank on the TDAC.
