So , for weeks now its been said that Thai immigration is 100% reducing the the visa exemption from 60 days to 30 days for the eligible countries. I booked a 30 day stay , flight etc to comply with this and arrive this month .. now its gone really quiet about this change ..have they u turned this again ???
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the potential reduction of the visa exemption for eligible countries in Thailand from 60 days to 30 days. While some users mention that there has been no official publication in the Royal Gazette about this change, indicating that travelers may still receive the 60-day exemption, others speculate that the change will occur soon, possibly before the next tourist peak season. Many stress the importance of staying informed and monitoring official announcements to avoid disruption to travel plans.

It went from 60 to 45 and back to 60 days for a period a few years back. That more or less happened overnight.

So if you've booked a 30 day stay and it changes to 30 days before you arrive, what's the problem?

too many clowns on social media want to “break the news” it hasn’t even got to discussion level in gov but is on the list . you’ll get 60 days on arrival . i’m guessing it’ll be in place for next christmas peak tourism time. but hey it’s thailand who really knows

Always book a single flight. Buy a cheap bus ticket to Laos or Mayanmar/Malaysia.

If the 30 day rule does not come in, stay for 60 days or more with an extension and book your return flight as and when you need it.

That's what I've done January this year. One way ticket. Never been stopped never been asked to show anything.

The Royal Gazette of Thailand is published daily, without a set schedule, as new editions are released by the Secretariat of the Cabinet whenever laws, royal decrees, or official government announcements are authorized. There is no fixed day of the week for releases.

The changes to the visa exemption are basically stuck in limbo. Yes the Cabinet passed it but The King has not yet signed it and it has not been published. With thousands of hotel and bar and restaurant owners screaming how it will adversely affect tourism it may sit in limbo for quite some time, no one really knows when of even if it will ever be finalized. However rumors continue to abound on Fakebook.

Elías Molina its a double edged sword for them. Shorter stay means people are more likely to book a hotel instead of a more extended stay accommodation like a serviced apartment. But fewer tourists hurts occupancy too. Kind of a no win situation for them.

But most wouldn't be allowed to go unless the Mrs went with them.

Because nobody with brains is appointed to higher posts (unless they are family,) it is highly likely this stupid law will come into existence. There will be a period of time when the howls of dismay from EVERYONE not making enough baht from tourism will get louder. Then there will be the customary flip-flop; too late to save those who have sampled the cheaper delights of Vietnam and will not return.

What Thailand wants and what it needs are two different things. I have no recent figures but tourism is generally quoted to be 20% of its annual Gross National Product. Society here is divided into the rich and powerful and the seriously poor. Trying telling any of this latter group that they will be 20% less well off in the future as holiday makers are going for lengthy stays in Vietnam, eating their rice and drinking their beer ( at 50% of Thai prices). I'm a whiner who's lived here 20+years, spending millions; putting two abandoned step-daughters through college; buying a new car every 3 years; fine-dining a couple of nights a week. Thailand will lose people like me.

Just like Acts, laws, rules, and regulations do also take time to be published and take effect in the UK Gazette (London Gazette), so too will the change to 30 Days ( ผ.30 ) that has yet to be published in Thailand's Royal Gazette and then take effect " Gazetted "

Tom Pola The change to 30 has not been published in the gazette and would then come in 15 days later. It can also be extended by 30 days giving 60 days total. So 60 days is still ok. Also the 60 day tourist visas won't change. Why would they need to go to Vietnam when they want to stay in Thailand.

Matthew Plymale it means that if you're counting on the 60-day visa exempt, you just need to check the news once a day to see whether it's been published in the Royal Gazette or not. You can also get a regular tourist visa now, it's cheap and fast.

Elías Molina The 15 day rule is not universal. It pretty much only covers immigration and visa rules.

All other laws take effect as written in the text which could be the day of publication.
