Is the Special Tourist Visa (90 + 90 renewal) still available nowadays to apply for a Thai consulate like the one of Penang?

If yes, is there a major difference in the application process?

On the official website, I’m not confident that it’s up to date as they speak of covid and they refer to older dates.

Thank you!

Answer summary

The Special Tourist Visa (STV) is no longer available, having ended last year, and it was previously only obtainable from one's home country. The information on official websites may be outdated, leading to confusion.

take another border or fly back to Thailand, Malaysia borders are little bit strange if you don’t go with agency. Had problems at Sungai Kolok and Takbai, but finally let me in

In addition to what Stuart said, the STV was only ever available from your home country.

STV died last year. Probably never to be revived. Which is basically a good thing.
