Hello there !

It seems that after june 30th, there will be no more STV extension. I just arrived a week ago (still on quarantine). My first 90 days goes till august.

Does anyone know if I go for the STV extension in june, will the extension start from August or from the day I apply for the extension in june ?

I will go to the immigration after quarantine, but I wonder if anyone has the information. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The STV (Special Tourist Visa) allows for an extension that begins from the expiry date of the current visa, not the date of application. Therefore, if you apply for the STV extension in June while already in quarantine, the new extension will start from your existing visa's expiration date, which in your case is in August. However, keep in mind that there is an announcement stating no further extensions will be granted after September 30. Therefore, you should take immediate action and verify the current regulations with the local immigration office for the most accurate guidance.

I stopped following all the changes few months, but was planning on coming over on a STV (hoping quarantine gone by then) and stay for 9 months. It sound like your saying thats no good anymore since I would not be arriving till Oct 1. Since I am in 40s and not coming over for work/school is my only option the SETV with covid prep or can I still get a METV if I provide ppw? I plan on staying 5-6 months....from USA

DO NOT GET the STV. If you enter after July 3, you will not get any extensions. The METV is NOT issued at this time. Unless you get an Ed Visa you will not be able to stay your planned 5-6 months...And ALL land borders are CLOSED...NO Border runs possible this year.

From the last summarised announcement about STV extension, you still can apply for an extension until 30 Sep. You may have misunderstood the part people who 'enter' Thailand after July 3rd cannot apply for an extension.

(Actually, you could have a slight chance to apply for the last extension on or before 30 Sep if you are in one of the certain provinces that allow extension application 45days prior and your days' count is correct)

STV is extended from the expiry date of the previous stamp for 90 days. So if yours expires August 15, your next extension will be until November 13. The Immigration Department has already announced no further extensions will be granted after September 30, so you won't be able to get the third one.

Hopefully she will get the first extension.

. I'm surprised people are still applying for the STV because it's really outdone its usefulness. I think it was released as a bit of a gimmick to get people in for a longer term than normal, but it didn't really take off, as many saw the opportunities of getting 90-day non-O visas as being more flexible. However, by the time the OP's extension expires in November, there's always a chance that a land border may be open (my money is on Laos) to facilitate changing to a more useful visa. Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ˜€

thank you ! That's reassuring ๐Ÿ™

Yeah, I got that the 3rd one won't happen unfortunately ๐Ÿ˜”

We really do not know... Re your STV extension question.

Ask your Thai immigration office.

In our opinion...

You made a poor choice of visa to enter Thailand...

But you are here now.

Good luck.
