My tourist visa application has moved from pending approval to pending decision. Is this good news? It just sounds like different terminology to me.
Answer summary
The change from 'pending approval' to 'pending decision' is generally seen as a positive step in the visa application process. Commenters shared their experiences, with several noting that this transition often leads to visa approval. The terminology change appears to reflect an update on the E-Visa website, clarifying that 'pending decision' means that a higher authority has yet to finalize the approval, rather than indicating a rejection.

Jonathan Garner The E-Visa Website has undergone some updating on Saturday night. The wording changed for literally the same thing.
"Processing" remained (Checking documents), but the term "pending approval" now is called "pending decision" which means somebody higher up has yet to sign his/her approval.

It's different terminology for 2 different things. One is "checking documents", the other is it's moved on to pending "a decision" of approval. So next step is visa approved.

Sharon Pickard it means they've checked it ( document check) and now it's been sent for someone to decide ( pending decision ) on approval. Should be ok, hopefully. Unless they ask for something else..
Sharon Pickard No it means they are checking it to see it is ok, you are on top of the staple now, so it will not take long anymore for a decision or asking for extra documents
