Is providing a history of all my residences and lease agreements normal for retirement visa extensions in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
For my retirement visa extension, I was asked to provide a list of all the places I've lived in the last 12 months along with lease agreements and evidence of rent payments. Is this normal procedure now or is it because I'm applying in a different province than last year. I bounced around temporary places quite a bit and this won't be easy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the requirement to provide a comprehensive list of residences and associated lease agreements for a retirement visa extension in Thailand. While some commenters note that presenting evidence of a stable home base is standard practice, others express concerns about the inconsistency of visa requirements across different provinces and perceived rigidity in Thai immigration policies. The overarching sentiment suggests that while it may not be common to request such detailed residency information, variations in local immigration office practices can lead to differing experiences.

Is it possible for you to move back to the province where you got your last extension for long enough to get a new one?

It doesn't matter whether it os normal practice or not. If you want your extension do what they have requested.

how about be more modern and actually have a national standard and take the corruption or abuse of power away and stop for ING people to have to use agent so they can get their kickback. Why not go by the rules posted by immigration official site.

If people choose to retire in Thailand ,they have to accept the vagaries of Thai immigration rules .For Brits,the Philippines is a better option .Less red tape and entitled to receive any pension increases ,which are frozen in Thailand .

your correct about the Philippines. Much easier process and they reward military people with easy access to long term retirement for about 1500 dollars. Just wish they had a better infrastructure. They seem to be kinder at immigration in actually trying to help. But thai women are more beautiful 555

What about all those TM30s and TM47s ?

You normally need to show you have a long term abode. Although it can be a hotel with a written agreement to stay there for an extended period

I've moved provinces a couple of times and not been asked for previous leases, but this is Thailand and different offices/officers can ask for different things, seems like you've been unlucky.

I don't think thailand understands what retirement mean for farangs. Traveling and bouncing is a normal and expected part of being retired. And there is stated rule to have an annual lease for home base. Its just another show of abuse of power

their country their rules. It isn’t an abuse of power - your attitude is arrogant. Leave if you don’t like it.

eat a dick. Immigration officer don't follow the rules. They make up shit as it go. If you were a real expat you would know. Dick weed

I don't think foreigners understand what requirements are required for retirement in Thailand. Foreigners somehow believe they're entitled to special treatment

how is entitlement when foreingers follow the rules but the immigration hav absolutely power tonchange the rules on any given day. If you actually read people post on daily basis youbwould know that.

I read the comments most days, and most complain about items where they've failed to follow the guidelines. I've been here over 15 years, never had a problem. The rules haven't changed. I've always shown a 12-month lease as that's part of the criteria. I don't know what "travel and bounce" is, I'm constantly travelling. I probably spend a total of six months in the condo I'm renting. If your interpretation of travelling is to pack up all your belongings every time you have a trip, it must be hard work for you! I just take one suitcase
Matthew *********
@Andy ***********
I take one suitcase and bounce from North to South. I have been here many years. And just recently I had My first rejection for online reporting even tho i registered residence which I have blue book and yellow and always come back to. I went to immigration and they had no reason for the rejection. There is consistency in this country. But not surprising. Now they are trying to get rid of their PM. Thais are never happy and always want to show a power trip to change the rules.

@Matthew ********
I do the same as well as 3-4 international trips each year but I rent a condo in Bangkok which is my base..

@Matthew ********
retirement should also mean not having to deal anymore with paperwork all the time, but Thai officials just keep inventing more of it
Matthew *********
@Frank ********
and that is the truth

Never heard of it asked before, but immigration generally wants you to have a single home-base with annual leases for retirement extensions.
