Is my son's medical visa covered under the current amnesty period in Thailand?

I would just like to double-check that my son's medical visa is indeed covered in this current amnesty period. It expires today. I did ask our local office but always fearful of misunderstandings. My son is 20 and was involved in an accident while we were applying for an education visa for part of his studies, so the hospital suggested (in light of the covid situation) to keep him on a med visa so long. Anyway, I have been waiting on the phone to the hotline forever to ask this question. If anybody could confirm whether medical visas are also covered in the amnesty, I'd be grateful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks confirmation about whether their son's medical visa is included in the current amnesty period as it is set to expire. The son, injured in an accident, is currently on a medical visa while transitioning to an education visa. Concerns arise from delays in getting answers from local authorities and the importance of ensuring proper documentation for visa extensions amid the COVID-19 situation.

AFAIK, once he goes to amnesty he's probably NOT gonna be able to get an ED visa because you need hard stamp days left on your current stamp to apply for an in country Non-Immigrant type visa (above the table) at the immigration office.

Even though he will "click over" and go on amnesty I would get documentation from the hospital and apply for another extension based on medical reasons so that he has a hard stamp in his passport.

Go back to the immigration office and MAKE them give you the medical extension (they usually have a form you sign that says I know I can get amnesty but I want to get an extension instead)..

Thank you. The visa is dd 15 Aug, not today, but I guess I would have to go today, right??

and what is the reason that the hospital doesn't provide paperwork for him to get a new extension based on medical reasons?

They have provided it. I have it all here. However, when I went to the immigration office in my area two weeks ago they said he did not need to renew it until 26 Sept (they saw all the paperwork). I just worry as they have incorrectly informed me on things before

I think because they don't know that he's going to go for an ED visa after this that they are telling you bad info
