Has anyone applied for a new dependent to their DTV (soft power) visa *after *their soft-power activity had ended? I'm wondering if anyone has had the dependent application rejected because the soft-power activity had ended. Thanks for any input!
Answer summary
A user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a dependent to their Digital Tourism Visa (DTV) after their soft-power activities have concluded. Most commenters suggest that the DTV is valid for five years irrespective of soft-power activities, and applying for a dependent should not be problematic as it's not directly tied to one's ongoing participation in those activities. While some warn about potential entry denials for not being enrolled in a current course, others state that as long as the visa is valid, there should be no issues. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding visa rules and clarifying any uncertainties with official sources.

You can apply even after 4 years it's not connected to Soft Power at all. People not understand how it's works

It's not student Ed visa at all it's not working same way.

Soft power it's just one of the reason to meet requirements for DTV

After visa approved it's not connected directly to Soft Power activity so you can one year do Muya Thai another year nothing come to stay in Thailand as tourist and another year join Thai cooking class if you want it, and the rest juts be as remote work as others if you have it. Your reason effect only for reentry

Alex Ni Please provide the official rules or statements here especially from Immigration/Royal Thai Police or state that you are speaking from their authority. Otherwise, if it’s an assumption of yours, please state that too for clarity.

chooserich007 Not opinion but based on reading verifiable reports. Do you recall the guy who obtained his DTV for Muay Thai Boxing but decided he didn't like it and concentrated instead on his existing sport of marathon running? IO asked his purpose of visit upon entry. The guy showed them pics and video clips of himself participating in marathons in Thailand. This was accepted and he was duly stamped into Thailand. Proves that not only are the various Soft Power activities, Workcation and vacation acceptable for purpose of entry but other sports (not necessarily Thai) are too.

Alex Ni opposite of what? I never suggested, stated or claimed anything. I am asking you to clarify because you make the claim which could entirely be true. If not, just mentioned that it is your opinion. Nothing wrong with your just own opinion.

Alex Ni Thanks for your clarification. Very well explained.

The visa is valid for 5 years so you can apply as far as you can show funds.

I'd suggest you enrol in another soft power activity before trying to re-enter Thailand, if your original activity had ended, that's all.

Thailand is nice enough to allow us to legitimately stay there for 5 years, provided we follow the rules.

I have zero sympathy for people who want to play the system.

Good luck trying...

Karma exists...

I hope people get away with it enough that you learn how lucky they were and stop doing it before the universe gets back at them otherwise they will hey what's coming...

RedBlueberry7135 Why would you suggest the OP wastes his money? There is no requirement to enrol upon any subsequent qualifying course after the original one has ended.

Hey Christopher, can you reply back to me? Why do you have a DTV VISA when you’re old and qualify for the retirement VISA?

You still haven't answered the question and keep deflecting. Why aren't you on the retirement VISA?

OptimisticPeacock6692 I’m here to laugh at the constant attempts to convince DTV holders that they’ve made a bad choice. 10,000 baht for a 5 year multi-entry visa is a bargain. Making life easier for others by disseminating tried and tested solutions and workarounds gives me satisfaction. Maybe try it yourself sometime?

RedBlueberry7135 Mate, I'm not saying he's ineligible for applying for the DTV. For the DTV, you only have to be over 20 years old to apply.

I'm asking why didn't he just apply for the Retirement VISA instead of the DTV as he's clearly old enough.
RedBlueb********
RedBlueb********
OptimisticPeacock6692 sorry mate, but last I checked there is no age limit on applying for the DTV...

So... why not...

Good on you Chris... I hope you are having the best time in Thailand on your DTV

I’m asking you directly as you’re in a group with those who have a DTV or want a DTV visa but you’re ancient and sad, but you should be qualified for the retirement visa, unlike most of it.

Why don’t you have the retirement VISA? Are you old, BROKE, and sad and you’re just in here for fun and to give awful advice since you're bored?

OptimisticPeacock6692 How does what I do (or don't do) impact upon the OP's question?

given the number of people reporting that they are getting denied entry and sent back to their destination for not having a current course I believe that's the best way to try and avoid that risk...

Now, you don't want to do that and risk it by all means, go nuts...

I'm in a workation DTV, I give ZERO about people who get denied entry for trying to "play the system"... OP is an adult they should do whatever they want, but if they get denied entry I'll laugh about it, given I tried to help...

That's why...

I hope this clarifies your question...

"Having a multiple entry holiday visa applied under a certain premise, and used under a different approach (applied for a course and not used for a course) would be illegal... most people get away with it, sure... but if you don't, don't tell me I warn you..."

Can you provide the list of daring souls with their real names that (proudly?) mentioned their soft power classes have been over a while back and they have been traveling in and out of Thailand more than once since then?
Christopher ***********
Christopher ***********
RedBlueberry7135 Either the posts of denied entry are true or they're not. Full of discrepancies and failing to provide additional information as requested by a group expert would indicate they're not. Why try to persuade anyone to waste their money on unnecessary courses?
RedBlueb********

@Christopher **********
you are 100% correct, none of the posts I've seen about denials are "verifiable"...

However, as a seasoned traveller I can see the logic of those entry denials... hopefully, it's just trolls trying to scare people (and course they should stop doing it, it's childish...) But, if those posts are real I have negative infinite sympathy for them...HAHAHA

I wish everyone on soft power who have no continuous enrolment on courses the best of luck and an enjoyable stay in Thailand for the 5 years...

So, answering your previous questions, I was trying to help and suggest some I would in this case do, if I had applied for the soft power DTV...

I'm glad others know better.

RedBlueberry7135 No verifiable reports of anyone being denied entry on DTV for not currently being enrolled upon a qualifying course. That would be completely out-of-order because there is no such requirement. The vast majority of DTV holders never face any questions upon entry. In any case, DTV is a tourist visa. If ever asked for purpose of visit? answering; 'tourism' has proven to be acceptable.
