Hello all,

I am interested in applying for DTV visa for muay thai in chiang mai. I won't be looking at coming to Thailand until September next year due to prior commitments and work in the UK. I am currently travelling in Thailand and trying to gather as much information as possible but have been given conflicting answers on this. Some say 3 months, 45 days etc.

Does anyone know when what's the earliest I can apply for my visa before coming to Thailand in September.

I would like to apply sooner rather than later for security as I have would need to hand in my notice 2 months in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The earliest you can apply for a DTV visa for Muay Thai training in Chiang Mai is typically within 3 months prior to your intended travel date. However, many embassies may not approve applications if the intended entry is more than 3 months away. It's advised to check requirements closer to your application date and consider applying around June 2026 for a September arrival.

If you’re not planning till next year, you might want to check the rules then they change all the time

I applied with
@Muay ************
(best option in Thailand imo), and my original intended travel date was October last year. Things happened, some curve balls were thrown and I didn't end up traveling to Thailand until mid December. There were no issues at all. Just be mindful that your visa will be current from that date it is issued by the embassy.

thank you for your message. I had a look at muay thai fever, looks great. I couldn't see how many session you got for the price though, any ideas?

I was originally looking at chiang mai muay thai gym but this have given me some food for thought.

two sessions a week for 6 months initially I believe. The owner will likely get back to you on this post when he's not busy ☺️

Apply next year from the UK. I'd recommend Muay Thai Fever in CM.

When your intended stay is longer than 3 months from application, the embassy might just cancel the application.

I think booking and paying a Muay Thai training much sooner also is not usual, so around June 2026 will be the time to apply, not before

Check back with us early next summer 2026. Frankly it's way too early to REALLY know what the requirements for the DTV visa will be.

You can apply whenever you want, but most embassies will not approve an application if you're planning to enter the country more than 3 months in the future. It's 3 months. Not 45 days.
