Is it possible to get a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for myself and my child while being self-employed?

I am in the same boat. they want to see contract and proof on on-line work. I am slowly switching my clients to online work. but they want to see seasoned work and funds.

All of the above comments for specifics on being self employed.. you will also be asked for proof of current residence (driving license,bill etc). Proof of funds both 500k and monthly income bank statements from last 3-6months (depends which embassy). They have now also just introduced the need for a criminal check - apparently this can take the longest. I've seen updates that it can take 3 weeks or more in the UK to get one. It's also beneficial to have a statement of your plans and that your understand and will follow the restrictions of the visa (i.e. no thai customers, no working) and laws of the kingdom. As well as your touristic plans, things you want to do and see when you are visiting. The idea is that you are proving you not only meet the criteria but are genuinely wanting it for tourism and longer stays than the need for a multiple entry visa. Good luck!

Have you got leave to remain/permanent residence in China ? If not you will have to fly to your home country to apply.

I've seen stories about it going both ways, and seeing suggestions of writing a letter of recommendation from the company to the person as an employee.

I'm guessing this depends on how the business is setup, what form and such, but it might be worth looking into.

Yes, it is plausible. Evidence ownership of your business, contracts, business portfolio. Highlight income on bank statements. Letter of permission to work in Thailand and your clients are non Thai and you wont work with Thai businesses.

If you have a deed of incorporation, tax returns and balance sheets of your company then usually you are okay. They want proof you actually have a business and you are the owner.

And off course make sure you show you can’t have Thai costumers due to the nature of your business.

My bf got his workcation approved for 5 years and he's also self employed so I think it will be possible. Besides providing info on your business, you should also write a letter to stating you are the owner of the business and go into more detail about your job scope, that you can work remotely without Thai clientele and that you have enough funds to cover yourself and your child during the next 5 years. It helps if you also state what you estimate your monthly expenses will be compared to how much you make per month.
