Hello! I’m 4 months away from my departure. I am experiencing so many mixed emotions, but anywho! I wanted to get some validation on my plan:
I was initially going to go the soft power route and sign up with a Muai Thai gym, but I recently opened up my own private practice so now I’m considering the DTV route. Which I’m finding is more feasible, since I won’t be paying for classes. I meet all the requirements for the DTV & wanted to ask if I should just go that route instead? I still want to do muai Thai, but I could always pay for single classes when I get there because my plan is to travel to surrounding countries & I would hate being tied to classes that prevent me from traveling. What do you guys think?
Also, for those who are business owners (I’m a licensed therapist), did you write up your own letter saying you can work out of the country? Did you show any tax information? I’m curious what documents you showed.
Thank you in advance! I hope all that makes sense.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering switching from a Muay Thai gym enrollment to pursuing a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) due to the feasibility of remote work with their new private practice. They are looking for advice on this choice and insights from other business owners regarding necessary documentation for working abroad, including letters of permission and tax information.
Till the last time I remember, any work done in Thailand was not allowed in this visa. It includes job and business both. I'm not sure you can operate your personal setup on this visa.
not only can you not work with any Thai business you can't conduct any business in Thailand or have any clients inside Thailand so all of your clients need to be outside of Thailand and you then support them remotely
There's another limitation: You have to work remotely. For example offering in-person therapy sessions in Thailand is not allowed with a DTV – and possibly not allowed with any type of visa.
I am self employed. Wrote my own employment contract and certificate. Both were signed by me. Also included my license and proof that I do business in my home country. Was approved in 4 days in Hanoi.did also include last years tax returns.
You do need to write a letter giving yourself permission to work remotely in Thailand and not engage in any Thai business activity. Tax returns can be requested depending on where you apply. The Workcation option is the best option if you qualify.
