DTV APPROVED in Taipei City, Taiwan!

Workcation version - I own a business in the US.

Walked into Thailand Office in Taipei today at 9:45M - no appointment needed or available.

Asked to return with additional docs before 11:30am.

Asked to return at 3:30pm for results. Results approved.

Paid 11,000 TWD (local currency) and only after being told I was approved was I asked for this

Asked to return tomorrow between 4-5pm to pick up Visa!

DTV Documents provided:

-Passport

-One Copy of passport

-Visa Application form (choose Other and write DTV for what you are applying for...I had to fix this)

-6 months bank statements for the bank account I receive payments from my company (paycheck from business goes here)

-6 months bank statements for the bank account with a balance of 500k baht or more

-Letter of authorization to work remote on company letterhead (I am owner so written and signed by me)

-ADP Paystubs 6 months (I pay myself as an employee of my company)

-Business Certificate with government seal ($5 in Florida to obtain online)

-Business Registration page (Sunbiz.org for Florida business)

-Two inch photo (only needed one...they gave the other back) stapled to application

Then they asked for additional documents:

-Contract for business showing my name, customer name, and my company name

-payment from customer (photocopy of check) matching contract above - highlighted my name and customers name

-Proof check was deposited into my business account (and covers my payroll amount)

-invoice matching payment above to same customer

-IRS page showing tax ID (my CPA had emailed this to me like 5 years ago…not sure where to get it online otherwise)

-Updated November statement showing account balance (I had prepared a few days before in November so my last statement was October. I applied Dec 2 and they wanted November as well by that time. She also said I could show her the balance on my phone and would have asked me to screenshot and email it to her)

Hope this helps! Thank you for all the help in this group.f

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent experience of obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Taipei City, Taiwan, was shared, detailing the process and the comprehensive list of documents required. The applicant faced multiple steps, including returning for additional documentation until the final approval. They emphasized the need for various financial records and business details, while also noting the differences in visa processing between different countries—pointing out the complex nature of applying in Taiwan compared to an easier process in Australia. Community comments echoed mixed sentiments about the extensive documentation and experiences with other consulates.

Things I was NOT asked for that I’ve seen on this site:

-Tax returns

-proof of any addresses or lease agreements

-copy of passport stamp entering Taiwan or leaving Thailand

-Thai bank account info (I don’t have one)

Can i ask you some questions in private message ? I am about to do the same 😊

The general thinking is why go through all that stress to apply with all those documents for under the workcation?? Just apply with the softpower option?? And if you stay in Thailand permanently you will get drawn into the tax system, call me paranoid but, they could be saving all that financial documentation, as future evidence if you don't pay tax on it 🤔

tax treaty with US. I’m already paying taxes on it, but I will have to file here as well. No double taxation

Thanks for your helpful report.🤗

In other words don’t apply in Taiwan 😂

I applied in Australia online 4 documents and 4 days later my E-Visa was approved.

Amazing how some Embassies and Consulates differ and all the hoops you have to jump through 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Taipei is among the friendliest Thai Embassy in applying for the DTV visa. Quick response and walk in personal contact with Embassy Officers.

Friendliest also can be the one on of the most stressful going by recent postings

took one day and they told me exactly what I needed to get them to make it approved. I feel like this was very easy. Only stressful because of the time limit she gave me and the way my business is structured for contracts and payments.

Most of my money is in my investment account. Do you think they'll care if I use a line of credit to top up my checking account to hit 500k?

good luck! I have no idea. If you do make sure you bring the paper trail for it. Statements from both accounts.

@Francky *******
I think so as long as you can show paper trail. They didn’t look that close at any of the bank stuff

i sent you a message to exchange. According to your experience it’s better booking an hotel near the embassy

I just booked my flight and accommodation to Taipei for December 8th. I have a business based in Canada and I'm using this post as a checklist to organize my documents. I'm happy to say that I have everything you listed out here!
