Can anyone please confirm if it necessary to visit immigration if you are currently under the tourist amnesty to get a free stamp in your passport up to the 26th Sept as a necessary step prior to securing any other future visa? Am reading mixed things. Thank you πŸ™πŸ»

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community is discussing whether it is mandatory to visit Thai immigration to obtain a free stamp in the passport under the current tourist amnesty, aimed at permitting stay until September 26th. There are mixed opinions, with some suggesting it is necessary for future visa applications, while others point out inconsistencies in how different immigration offices operate. A consensus is beginning to form that obtaining the free stamp might be crucial if one plans to apply for a change of visa. However, reports indicate that as of the deadline, no more free stamps may be available, and travelers are advised to either secure another visa or leave the country to avoid complications.

They have an offical covid 19 stamp that says you are granted permission to stay in the kingdom until the experation date indicted. If you are trying to do any other type of visa you should get that stamp. If you are planning to leave on the 26th then forget about it.

From 26 no free stamps annymore ,, pay or leave

Leave Thailand before 26 my adwise if you don't want some problem. No more amnesty when people should understand that 5555

Most reports are that people get it with a other extensions paperwork in hand. Pattaya was handing out the stamps supposedly, but stopped as of today unless you have another extension coming. It's an office my office struggle since the process is so new.

. Some people are getting under consideration stamps on account of embassy letters, some people are managing to get in country change of visa. There will be no more amnesty. It's actually already stopped. Thai immigration now call it "period of grace". Get a visa or get out is the message

is correct some office's apply to rules differently. Thankfully our office has known me a long time and stated if I get the letter they will allow the in country conversion to a Non O.

There is so much conflicting info false and true on line that I dont trust any off it. Also what applies at one office may not apply at the next gather up an overload of potential requirements &$$$$$$$$ & go talk to the people at the office you intend to apply at. The sooner the better for sure they will look less kindly on those in the last week.

Some IOs won’t give you an extension until you have a valid permission of stay, and this new free stamp seems to solve that problem. But still early days, mixed reports so far.
