Hello,
I just wanted to share my experience at Krabi immigration today. I went in with my parents' passport for 'closing the loop' on the extension based on embassy letter. However, the officer told me that we don't need any stamp at the moment, that they will not be considered as overstaying, and to come back some time before 26th October, as that's when the visa is valid till. This is highly concerning for several reasons:
1. All the posts that I have seen on here about going in to 'close the loop' no matter what. So right now their last stamp is still the under consideration stamp. Is that going to be a problem?
2. Why did he mention 26th October, as that would have been true had the amnesty not been extended? As things stand, my parents should be ok till the 31st as that's the end of amnesty period.
3. When I asked him if the new stamp will enable my parents to stay till the end of November (based on the posts I've seen on this group), he said if they want to stay till 30th November, we need to get a letter from the embassy. This is confusing as we have already provided a letter from the embassy (which got us the under consideration stamp in the first place). When I mentioned this, he said something to the effect of call the embassy again.
Right now I'm a bit worried about how things will play out in the future, and if they will get in trouble for not 'closing the loop'. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, and want to hear opinions on this situation, and what we should do now.
Thanks in advance!
