What options do foreigners have for obtaining a COVID-free certificate in Thailand after testing positive?

Problem solved!

Bangkok community help fixed the situation 🖤

Friends of me need help.

Maybe somebody here knows what to do, they’re in a bad situation right now.

One got tested positive on day 5 from a hospital in Koh Phi Phi.

He doesn’t have any symptoms at all so he could do home isolation right?

But the hospital told him, he has to pay 180.000baht in advance and he is not allowed to do home isolation because he needs a certificate of being Covid free after 10 days and only the hospital can give it to him.

So he asked them if he can go to the doctor after the isolation and just get this certificate.

The hospitals said no, he needs to go to a special hotel for this. The hotel wants 600€ per night.

For me it sounds like a rip-off.

Does anybody know what he can do?

Home isolation and calling the government hospital for this certificate?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A foreigner tested positive for COVID-19 on Koh Phi Phi, was faced with expensive hospital fees, and was told he could not do home isolation unless a certificate was issued by the hospital after 10 days. The community provided various suggestions, including contacting the Bangkok Community Help Foundation and seeking alternative doctors for the recovery certificate. There were discussions about the high costs involved and potential scams associated with medical services for tourists, highlighting the importance of having proper health insurance. Ultimately, it was reported that the community helped resolve the situation, but details were not elaborated.

We should not convict others so that ourselves are not convicted. Don't convict them because we may also behave like that in the same situation.

Tell him to look them in the eye, tell them to go to hell, get back to your home and isolate, then get a certificate from a doctor. They cannot hold you against your will - thieving little shits.

well actually they can. Their country their rules. Surely people knew they would have to quarantine in tnis fashion if they tested positive. What did people visiting Thailand think would happen if they returned a positive result? That they would just be waved on their way and told to have a nice holiday. Did no-one do any research before they flew here? By being resistive and rude to Thai medical staff you just perpetuate the stereotype of the rude, entitled foreigner who thinks they can come to Thailand and do whatever they like. Basicaly what you are saying by behaving like this is "F-ck the Thai people, f-ck your elderly and vulnerable, I paid for a holiday so I am entitled to spread Covid wherever I like"

No - I said NOTHING of the sort.I did NOT say " fuck the Thai people, fuck your elderly etc. etc." If some tin pot hospital tries to screw me out of 180,000 BHT, then tries to incarcerate me even though I am asymtomatic and I can issolate at home ( thefore not capeable of killing the elderly and vulnrable ! ) and then insist I pay more money to get a Covid free certificate, then you can really believe I will tell them where to go. If you bother to read the posts here, they all reflect a growing frustration at what is a blatant scam, and whilst the Thai administration continue in this manner, tourists will NOT come here. If you want to be Miss Goody Two Shoes, and kow tow to a rotten system - you carry on. Lastly, I am triple vacinated, so I am more likely to get an infection from a hospital than the poor elderly are from getting anything from me.

Tell him to say that he will contact TAT if they refuse to listen.

Btw, shouldn't he have a valid insurance, how else could he even get his Thailand pass to come here 🤔
