TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a 30-day extension on a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, you need to visit the immigration office where you are staying, bringing along your passport, a passport-sized photo, and a TM30 form from your accommodation. The fee for the extension is 1900 baht. It's also advisable to have a photocopy of your passport's entry page. Some immigration offices may require the TM30 to be filed online by your accommodation, and it's important that the house owner or hotel manager handles this process to avoid additional fines.

So I will be staying at my partners family house. Does the owner of the house need to come to immigration with me?
Copy of hotel booking cannot cover the TM30. Only if the hotel filed a TM30 already. Better to ask the hotel for proof of TM30 so you know it's done and can provide that to immigration.
hi Brandon i found the rules change depending immigration office you go to my last extension was 6 weeks ago at jomtien chonburi and they wanted a new TM30 paper copy even though they already had online Tm 30 from D Varee hotel I thought it was a little strange but it's thailand
we went to Lampang with the TM30 paper copy as the hotel hadn’t done it online was a bloody nightmare - 3 hours later than our appointment with phonecalls to the hotel by immigration finally sorted 🤦🏼♀️
how did they give you a paper copy if they didn't do it online? That doesn't make sense. They should be giving you a screenshot of the online system as proof.
they hand wrote this large paper copy of a TM30 which we took to immigration. They wouldn’t accept it as section 38 states the owner or hotels l manager has to take it not us !!! But they rang them numerous times and they then submitted it online and immigration then took a screenshot of the online TM30 - so stressful and 3 hours of my life I won’t get back but all good in the end
