What are the requirements for extending a 60-day single entry tourist visa in Thailand for an additional 30 days?
Is it the short term extension you need for an added 30 days? I will want to extend ar the end of my 60 day single entry tourist visa. Thank you.

Also there are reports that Samui is telling people who show up with booked appointments that the office "does not participate in the program" and so far no one has stood their ground, said there is no "opt out" of the program and that they want to file a complaint

That is not correct for the 30 day extension. You are getting a 30 day extension in only TWO cases a free visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry and BOTH of those cases the extension is for TOURISM reasons..
