Hello, I'm going to Thailand for up to 2 months. Would the process of getting a 30 day extension after entry be easier as far as documentation goes than applying for a tourist visa. A tourist visa online requires hotel bookings and flight details and I wouldn't need to supply that with an exempion, I am aware I'll need those details when I apply for my COE, but what's involved with going to immigration for an extension..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a 30-day extension for a visa exemption in Thailand is generally considered easier than applying for a tourist visa, as it requires less documentation. You'll need to provide a TM30 filing from your accommodation and 1,900 baht for the extension fee, but you won't need flight or hotel bookings for the extension itself. However, it's still advisable to have flexible flight arrangements in case you need to adjust your departure date.

These are the requirements for a Visa exempt extension for the Phuket offices. Your local office may have slight differences.

Extension is not difficult at all. 1900baht a photo and TM30 filed from wherever you're staying. Depending on the embassy you're applying from they may require a flight out of Thailand within the initial time you are stamped in for on exempt entry. So best to have a flexible date return ticket so you can extend your stay and flight date once here.

Well you'll need flight bookings and hotel bookings for COE anyways .
