I hear the thai embassey in Penang is refusing visas for no reason due to some people providing fake paperwork. Has anyone gone there recently to get their 3 month non B visa with all the paperwork required and successfully got their visa without any problems? Is KL a better option? thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai embassy in Penang reportedly has been denying visas recently due to concerns over fake paperwork. However, many community members believe that as long as you have the correct documentation, you should not face issues in obtaining a 3-month Non-B visa there. Comparatively, applying in Kuala Lumpur is noted to be more complicated due to mandatory appointments for both application and passport pickup.

There are so few reports from people visa running to any consulate nearby, I'd say IF you have the correct paperwork you shouldn't have any problem at Penang (or any consulate really) especially for a Non-B visa (even with a passport filled with covid extensions)

KL is NOT a better option by a long shot. You need a mandatory appointment to get in the gate to apply and an appointment to pick up your passport.

If you have the correct documents (which is the responsibility of your employer to give you) you should be fine.

to support that, a friend walked in at Penang this morning with a passport full of all the Covid stamps and received the 3 month Non-B for business. No issues

I would have thought 'providing fake paperwork' was a pretty good reason to refuse visa !!
