TLDR : Answer Summary
Opening an 800,000 THB savings account at SCB in Hua Hin can be challenging, especially without a long-term visa like the Non-O. Some users reported having difficulty, often citing the necessity of a 12-month extension or changes in banking rules that prevent scam accounts. However, others suggest that with the right guidance from an agent, it can be achieved relatively easily within 45 days. It's important to first secure the necessary visa before attempting to open the account.

Come in with a Non-O based on retirement, you should get an account though I’m Bangkok Bank but have accounts with 3 banks. And I own a residence. But as long as you’re on a long term visa, don’t see why not.

If your from the US you can’t and probably without a long stay visa you’ll have problems everywhere

If you know how, not hard at all. You don't need to go back or apply in US.
Just arrive with 60 days visa waiver.
Get an agent to help, it should be done within 45 days. Any idea which city to stay?
I stay in Huahin, I am Thai, so I don't need any visa, however my sister is not, so she has this agent run it for her.. this agent very honest and know her ways around. Plus Huahin is a small town with Immigration office, so westerners that Retire here has some degree of easy immigrants service.
will be very dissapointed when she finds out that even by the help of agents, she cannot get a bank account opened on a tourist visa, except when she is willing to buy "other services"by the agent. She needs to apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa in the States, and enter Thailand on it. With this visa she will be able to open a bank account
I would take this advertisement with a pinch of salt. Like I said: They MIGHT open a bank account for her on a tourist visa, however only if she buys "other services". I got my ears on these agent's doors, believe me, there is a lot of talk and only half of it is true
its simple make contact with them. There's other companies advertising as well.
They say THEY CAN OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT ON ANY VISA and give prices too. I'm only the messenger so don't shoot me

I thought you couldnt get the 90 day Visa any more, or you can't get 90 day ones? I will check back with what I was told. I wanted an agent for other things. Bank acct, gertting visa, check paper work for when I rent or buy a condo.
I am not in Thailand yet. I plan on come to live inend of May. I want to get right visa. Thats all I am checking out. This other person that posted this said he got in? Not me.
you DEFINITELY can get the single entry Non-Imm-O Retirement/over 50 Visa by an application in the e-visa system of the Washington embassy. Go ahead and do it. You can also hire the help of a Stateside agency to assist you with the visa application, and when in Thailand, let yourself assist by another agency

I want to get retirment visa non =o. But I haven't yet. I wont be moving until end of May first of June.I do not want to have to come back to USA. I want to stay in Thailand. To get visa I have to go through Miami Embassy. They do not show a non-o, only a non oa.? Thats why I think I need to get an agent. But would it be smart to come with just mt passport, then get an agent as soon as I get there? Or get an agent before I go?
Why when you scroll down to types of visa available on this Miami site it lists the Non O as available and further down it lists OA visa, yet your saying it's not available. ?
Have you actually gone onto the EVisa site registered and looked ?
A long-stay visa to Thailand is a visa that allows foreign nationals to stay in the country for an extended period of time, typically for a year or more. There are several types of long-stay visas available for Thailand, including the Non-Immigrant O Visa, the Non-Immigrant OA Visa, and the Retirement Visa.
The Non-Immigrant O Visa is for those who have a Thai spouse, child, or parent, or for those who are working or studying in Thailand. To obtain this visa, the applicant must provide proof of their relationship, employment, or enrollment in a Thai educational institution. The Non-Immigrant O-X (10 years) is for those who are over 50 years of age and want to retire in Thailand. To obtain this visa, the applicant must provide proof of their age and financial means, such as a bank statement or pension fund statement. This must be the one o need to use. Thank you
don't preach to me something you know nothing about and will not listen to People like Brandon.
I know about what visas are available as I have one and live in Bangkok.
Non O is also for Retirement, don't have to have family or be married. Your really confused and not prepared to listen. Good luck your going to need it.
you apply for a non-O visa by choosing these options in the e-visa system. If I see another post or comment from you saying there is only non-OA and not non-O you'll be suspended from posting and commenting.
I'm going to start rejecting your posts because you keep saying this over and over and you've been corrected over and over. I've shown you specifically how to choose the non-O visa in the e-visa system twice with photos. So you're either being willfully ignorant or just trying to lie.
And there is no embassy in Miami. If you live in Florida you apply through the embassy in Washington DC.
you cannot apply in the e-visa system of the Consulate Miami. This consulate is NOT active any more! You need to apply through the e-visa system of the Royal Thai Embassy Washington DC. And that's where you will be able to apply for the 90-daysNon-Imm-O Retirement Visa
