Is it better to apply for an ED visa in Bali or Taipei for a hand-to-hand combat course?

hello,

I'm going to apply for my first ED visa for Hand to hand combat course CM, and I was told that the only safe place to do it is Bali now. I was planning to go to Taipei, but now in doubt.

(I had a dependent O visa for two years.)

any advice and shared experience is much appreciated.

thank you!

UPD: the reason wrote this post is that I don't want to go to Bali, Taipei is way more attractive for me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a first ED visa for a hand-to-hand combat course in Thailand, expressing a preference for Taipei over Bali for the application process. Responses suggest checking local consulate requirements, with some sharing recent successes in Bali but cautioning about the potential challenges in Taipei.

follow your schools advice OR go to Taipei and hope for the best..

I would follow your school's advice. If you can afford to fly to Bali from Taipei if rejected there, or you were going to be in Taipei anyway maybe try there first. Historically Taipei has not been friendly to non-Taiwanese or people they consider "visa runners" but this stuff is all very fluid.

Your school is probably telling you to go to Bali because they have recent confirmations of successes from other students at that consulate. I would guess they probably have reports of rejections at other local consulates like Laos or Vietnam. I'd hazard a guess they probably just don't know about Taipei, that no-one has gone there. You could ask them, they'll tell you. If they say someone was rejected there you'll know not to go, if they say they don't KNOW you can risk it if you want but you won't have the certainty you'd have with Bali.

Also bear in mind you may need to get the introduction letter re-addressed if you are rejected at one consulate and need to try again elsewhere.

I am getting an ED visa through hand2hand as well. Originally was going to go to Taipei but am being told to go to Bali as well. Happy to hear someone recently had success in Bali.

Sorry to hijack Yuri’s post but I’m wondering how long it took the embassy in Bali to process your visa, I’m planning on booking a round trip to Bali to get my visa processed but not sure how many days I need

not every body like to type longer stories or use the complete words. But Pavel means to say. Hello, i can tell you that I applied with success in Bali 10 days ago with all the paperwork from the hand 2 hand gym. It is my first visa to Thailand in this new passport, which already has 2 visa exempt entry stamps in it. Please guys, do not fight over a piece of text, or people using short cuts. Better to join this H2H gym

And you did check if there is a Thai Consulate in Taipei? And that some documents from the school are addressed to the Consul of Taipei?

Okay, i just took a look at their website, I hope the school knows which one of the ED visas you need

Non-immigrant-ED (Education)

Non-immigrant-ED (Education : school short-term (1-6 months) exchange student)

Non-immigrant-ED (Education : school short-term (more than 6 months) exchange student)

Non-immigrant-ED (observation, traning course, internship)

"And that some documents from the school are addressed to the Consul of Taipei?"

we haven't decided with the school on that yet. they have been sending people there (i.e. addressing the documents to the council of taiwan.)
