Hello! The research I did online says that once you get the proper paperwork from the place of study inside of Thailand for Ed visa that you have to apply outside of Thailand. So my question is for the people in Bangkok where do y’all go outside of Thailand to apply? Please be as detailed as you can…. The country, embassy, transportation there….etc. Thank you!! Any other info also welcomed!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry centers on the process of applying for a 90-day Ed visa from outside Thailand after obtaining necessary paperwork from a Thai educational institution. Respondents indicate that while tradition leaned towards applying at Thai consulates in neighboring countries like Laos or Malaysia, recent changes allow for Ed visas to be applied for within Thailand at the Chaengwattana immigration office if the school offers support. It's recommended that applicants consult their chosen school for specific guidance, as rules may vary and have changed post-COVID.

Your country of origin BEFORE you travel to Thailand. I just read you can get it in Thailand now.

TALK to the school you're interested in enrolling in and ask them if they offer ED visa support so you can get the visa issued inside the country at the immigration office OR if you have to go out of the country and get it from a thai consulate nearby

most real schools have been able to get the 90 day ED visa for their students issued in country since the covid shit show locked the country down and nearby countries were closed to foreign entry. BUT getting it from your country before you come here is also an option now (for a while they didn't issue ED visas at thai consulates but they are again now)

yeah we think it’s best for us to see them in person and handle it that way. I hope we definitely can!!

another thing people used to do was enroll in the school, get the documents sent to them in their country and apply for the 90 day ED visa at the thai consulate before they came here.

In the US you apply for all thai visas using the online eVisa website, so you might be able to enroll, get the documents emailed to you and use them to upload for the single entry 90 day ED visa BEFORE you even come here

this is the eVisa website

this is the choice you want (even if you enroll in a muay thai or self defense course with a private school)

Now before the covid shit show started when you did get documentation from your school and go to a thai consulate in another country people were using the thai consulates in Lao (Vientiane or Savannakhet) or Penang Malaysia (for the people who lived in the south).

BUT

This isn't a "how can I get from point a to point b" advice group. you'd have to post that question on a group related to where you live in thailand

I think you can enroll and get the in country Non-ED visa issued at the immigration office at Chaengwattana as long as you have enough time left on your current stamp and haven't been here on covid extensions for too long 😕 ).

Understood! That definitely helps me atleast understand the place to go (if need be) & I can research how to get there.

Your research is a little off 😮 IN Bangkok most schools can get you the documentation to go to Chaengwattana immigration office and apply for the 90 day ED visa in country for 2000baht (they have been doing this since covid started).

You need to talk to the school you're enrolling in to see what they say. You need so many days on your current entry stamp (a minimum of 15 or more) when you apply

Ahhhhhh okay. I see, Thank you for this information! I have been in contact with the Muay Thai gym but the time difference has just made the conversations few and far. Trying to collect my own “knowledge” as well. We are still in the U.S. coming over soon.
