Has anyone here applied for ed visa for Muay Thai!? I’m thinking if I get the necessary documents from my school I can do it myself. They’re charging 30k baht on top of the tuition fee of 25k. If you have any experience doing it by yourself could I ask some questions? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the process of applying for an education visa (ED visa) to study Muay Thai in Thailand. A user expresses interest in handling the visa application independently but is warned by commenters that this may not be feasible without a visa agent, as the Muay Thai program may not be formally recognized for the ED visa. There are concerns regarding the high fees charged by schools, indicating that many schools typically charge lower amounts for similar visa processing services. One commenter who is currently on a Muay Thai ED visa offers to answer questions regarding the process.

You aren't gonna be able to "do it yourself" with documents from your school at your immigration office because the "special fee" the school is charging you is to pay off the immigration office to issue that visa in country. <- Which is something that "under normal circumstances" can't be done.

The only thing out of line is the amount the school is charging you :O Most schools that have a "special fee" to get you the 90 day Non-ED visa from the immigration office are around 15K baht. You sure your school isn't for the 90 day ED visa and then a year extension on top of that?

Do you have any schools you recommend? Thank you explaining “the game” to me lol.

, as
@Benj****
pointed out to you, Muay Thai Schools are not on the list of approved schools that can get ED visas in country "above the table" hence the reason to go "under the table". If you're gonna "study" muay thai you're gonna pay what they charge.

It would be for 6 months.

just you you're clear 6 months would be a 90 day Non-ED visa and then one 90 day extension. :/

Still seems high,

As I said most schools that do the "special fee visa/extensions" don't charge that much,

They're about 15K for the Non-ED and then 5000baht per 90 day extension usually..

Getting a visa/ extension of stay based on studying Muay Thai is currently not an approved visa/ extension of stay, and you will have to use a visa agent to get the visa under the table.

Know anyone?

your school IS the agent :( that's why they are charging that 'extra fee' you won't be able to push paper on your own even if they gave you the documents ;)
