I am going to have to go out of the ctry soon for my Ed visa. I already did one Ed visa back in 2014 at Vientiane and my school is telling me I should not go back there. They suggested Phnom Penh. I've been to pp before but it wasn't my favorite place to be. Anyone done Ed visas anywhere else like Hanoi or Manila? Is this possible or bad idea? Thks guys!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on where to apply for an Education (ED) visa for Thailand, mentioning previous experience in Vientiane and preferences against returning there. Comments suggest that Phnom Penh is acceptable if requirements are met, and highlight positive experiences at the Thai consulates in Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City). Additionally, it's noted that these consulates require visa fees to be paid in US dollars.
Phnom Penh isn't that bad IF you meet their requirements AND if you don't mind waiting 3 days for your visa.
There are no negative reports that I could find of the thai consulate in either Ho Chi Minh City OR Hanoi as far as getting a 90 day single entry ED visa.
Remember the thai consulates in Phnom Penh and Vietnam ONLY take US dollars for the visa fees.
Thks for the insight Steve. I don't want any friction. That's for sure. This will be my first one in a bit so maybe they won't ask me any questions. If I go to vietnam. I will prob go to Hanoi. I got a tourist visa there before and it was pretty chill.
I alluded to issues at the consulate in HCMC in another post. My comment was was based on a first hand account from a couple who experienced quite a bit of friction applying for an ED visa back in late April. They were given quite a hassle at the time of submitting the application (initially refused) and then again when the visas were retrieved (third degree questioning plus an impromptu Thai language skills quiz). YMMV.
Yea. I just would rather visit another place. Thks for the advice. Yea. I know where to get USD in Hanoi as I have received a tourist visa there before. Just didn't know if Ed visa was any trouble.
