Answer summary
To send 800,000 Baht to your bank account in Thailand, several users suggest using a SWIFT wire transfer for security and reliability, especially for larger amounts. Several banks offer low or no fees for this service, making it a popular choice. Additionally, Wise is frequently mentioned as a viable option, noted for its competitive exchange rates, though some users caution about fees. Other services like Revolut and Taptap send are also recommended for their favorable rates. It's wise to start with a smaller transfer to test the service before sending a large sum. Transfer via SWIFT. A very reliable and well established method.
I did a swift transfer, or international wire transfer for the bulk of the amount. However, I didn’t quite hit the 800,000 after fees and exchange rate was calculated, so I topped off my account with Wise. Both transfers were quick and easy.
Check if Bank of Bangkok is in your country. UK Bank of Bangkok can take normal transfers from UK banks, and then treatsca transfer to Bangkok as an Internal transfer
If you have a bank that doesn't rob you on wire transfers, a Swift wire transfer is best. Send in your local currency and have your Thai bank do the conversion. Thai banks limit the fee for incoming transfers to 500 baht. Some US banks have $0 (Fidelity) or $15 (Schwab) fixed fees for wire transfers.
The best way, with that sum of money is by SWIFT b2b transfer. Not so much in getting the money into your Thai bank account, but in giving you the paper trail you'll need if you want to take that lump sum out of Thailand, if you change your mind.
