Hi

If you apply for a Non-Imigrant Type "O"..... (not O-A)

The [members only]

Stated on documents

1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.

2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.

3. Financial evidence (e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party).

4. Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand.

Spouse of a Thai national

Marriage certificate

A copy of a ID card of a Thai spouse

Children of a Thai national / Legally adopted child of a Thai national

Birth Certificate / Certificate of adoption

A copy of a ID card of a Thai parent

Parent of a Thai national

Birth Certificate / Certificate of adoption

A copy of a ID card of a Thai children

Details of accommodation in Thailand

Travel Booking confirmation

Now there wrote me and want a USD 200,000 Health Insurance.

That is not required in my opinion

A 20,000 covid-19 insurance I need for the Thai-Pass application.

Or do I need both?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant Type O visa has specific document requirements, including proof of relationship to Thai nationals and accommodation details. While a local consulate has requested a 200,000 USD health insurance policy, the opinion of the applicant suggests this may be excessive since only a 20,000 USD COVID-19 insurance is specifically required for the Thai Pass application. It is advised to follow the consulate's instructions, as requirements may vary, and there are implications for entering Thailand with a different visa.

You need whatever your local consulate says you need. So if they are asking for it, it doesn't matter what your opinion is, it's required.

So you can either provide it to get your Non-O, or enter Thailand using a different visa and then switch to a non-O once you're here, which will not have any insurance requirement.

Regardless of what you need for the visa, you still need to meet the Thai Pass requirements which are completely separate.

thanks for the answer.

Non-O definitely not need this insurance...but as you say, if there request it I have to do it.

The second option you mentioned (I read of it)

Is this sure that I can insite Thailand switch a tourist visa to a "Non-O" based on Familie/Marriage?

Would it be possible to enter (with Thai-Pass) under the 4 weeks visa exempt and than change to the Non-O?

I mean is this 100 % sure?

Thanks

yes you can do it at most immigration offices (Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai for sure). Many do it. The only thing you may have trouble with is opening a bank account while on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry. Because you need the 800,000 in an account already to apply for the non-O that's good for 90 days, and then you'll wait for the funds to season before applying for the 1 year extension.
