Does anyone know whether it is a new requirement to have your degree attested to get a WP and / or NON-B?

Ive hears some rumors that this is a new requirement brought in by immigration

TLDR : Answer Summary
There are mixed experiences regarding the new requirement of degree attestation for obtaining a Work Permit (WP) and Non-B visa in Thailand. Some users report that attestation has been required for Indians applying from India since 2015. Moreover, those changing from one visa type to a Non-B at immigration need certified degrees, whereas those applying for a Non-B at a consulate in Penang report that it's not necessary. Users suggest visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok for certification and emphasize varied requirements based on individual circumstances.

Go to your embassy and swear an affidavit of authenticity and have it affixed to a certified true copy of your degree.

Then go to the Thai MFA at government complex in Chengwattana and get their stamp on it.

Once it has their stamp you are fine. Job done.

My experience:

Changing visas to Non-B at immigration = degree certified Needed

Getting a Non=B at an Embassy or Consulate = Not needed (Penang, in my case)

YMMV

, I went to my own embassy in Bangkok, to certify my degree.

I had the documents to submit for my last visa. They didn’t request my certified copy, only the regular photocopies were needed.

, no. It’s needed for the conversion of xxx visa to Non=B.

I got mine certified, went to Penang, where it wasn’t necessary and not even looked at.

If you already have a WP and NoN B , then i think you should not have any kind of problem.

I changed jobs after 3.5 years of extensions and work permits, as soon as I changed jobs I needed to go get my degree certified.

I'm not familiar with the teaching. I can only advice you to visit the Ministry of Labor and explain your situation, they are friendly and willing to help or at least give you the information on how to get a new WP.

Robert yeah I know -- so the fact that I previously held a WP and NOn-B counts for nothing? I mean I know it has to get cancelled and redone BUT does are they slightly more lenient towards candidates who've held WPs in the past

The WP is handed out with name of employer and address of work. You can not use this WP for another employer. You have to cancel old one and apply for new one.

Problem is Embassy cant attest it and to get it done back home will take a long long time. Also I currently hold WP and NON-B for what its worth but will be switching to new work soon
