What are the certification requirements for degree certificates when applying for a Non-Immigrant B Visa in Thailand?

Good morning,

Non Im-B Visa question here.

New regulations are saying that degree certificates should be certified in the home country and by the Thai Embassy in that country in order to process visa applications.

Does anyone know how strict Thai Embassies such as Vientiane are being with this?

Long story short, Covid meant there seemed no need for a re-entry permit. Then of course there was a family emergency and I left the country in 4hrs meaning now Iโ€™m on a tourist visa and need the Non Im-B before my work permit is cancelled.

Thanks for any info on this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post raises a question about new regulations requiring degree certificates to be certified in the home country and by the Thai Embassy for Non Imm-B Visa applications. It specifically asks how strictly the Thai Embassy in Vientiane is enforcing these regulations, especially after a recent change in visa status following an emergency. However, comments suggest there may be confusion regarding the requirements and the status of the work permit in relation to the tourist visa.

Sorry, but I close this down.

There are NO new requirements to apply for a Non Immigrant B visa and even in Covid times there was never a rule that re-entry permits are no longer needed or even issued.

Please keep topic on subject to avoid they getting closed.

NOT visa advice related

BUT

Unless I'm mistaken your work permit became invalid the second you stamped out on your Non-B extension without a re-entry permit ๐Ÿ˜• You can't hold a work permit on a tourist visa ๐Ÿ™

Where on the thai consulate in Vientiane website does it say the degrees need to be legalized or certified?

One last thing, I think you're going to have to have your degree certified or legalized in order to get an extension INSIDE the country at the immigration office even if you don't need it to get a visa from the thai consulate in another country

So depending on your passport that could be as easy as going to the embassy and filling out a blank affidavit notary letter stating the degree is real and true and getting them to stamp it OR if you're from the UK it means sending them BACK to Milton Keynes to get them legalized and then to the thai embassy in London to get them stamped ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Good Luck with it

are you confusing the rules about getting a Non-B visa/extension issued inside the country at the immigration office with the requirements to get a Non-B visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country?

The embassies/consulates outside the country are all run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office

The immigration offices in side the country are all run by the Immigration Division of the Royal Thai Police.

Those are two different gov't offices entirely
