I noticed someone was asking about getting his marriage certificate translated to thai OR ENGLISH so he could get an extension on his Non-O. When I asked at immigration last year in Sisaket, I was told that I needed my certificate which was in English translated to thai. Were they wrong? Is an English certificate acceptable?

Tony Dadson lol! the part I love is that my local consulate will accept my marriage certificate at face value to give me a non-o visa but then wont certify it for an extension of that very same visa without a notarized declaration of its authenticity! lol

 far easier to just get a non-o multi and go out to cambodia after 90 days!

 to get a translation of my marriage certificate into thai for the purpose of getting an extension in thailand, my consulate requires that I get it certified by a notary, then take it to the society of notaries for authentication, then take it to the recognized translation service, then take it to the consulate for legalization. all this to authenticate a certificate which they were happy to accept uncertified and unauthenticated in order to grant me the visa in the first place!! lol

 i know that but immigration requires that i have my marriage license translated and certified by m,y consulate . and they wont certify it without a notarized certificate of authentecity.

If you were married in England then you need it translated to Thai and certified by the MOFA

This topic is especially critical for foreigners who married thais in the UK and need to get the marriage certificate authenticated.

You CANNOT get that done in Bangkok anymore from the consulate.

 cant get an extension of stay without notarized translation of marriage certificate and that is a hassle. Besides, the distance for me to drive to get a 1900 baht extension is the same as the drive to cambodia to get a 1500 baht cambodian visa to do a border hop.

Extension of Stay does not even has entries, because you already in Thailand. If you like to travel you need also a re-entry permit to keep this Extension alive.

I makes a huge difference to me. the difference between a single entry and a multi! as I dont want to have to buy a ticket out for a visa exempt re-entry at 90 day to satisfy airline boarding requirements in canada.
