Hello . I am finally going to immigration this friday formy 1st retirement visa extension. Last doc check and one specific question on 800k fund deposit.

* it is me and my Italian wife

* we intend to ask 1 year extension for me and TRAILING spouse for my wife

* we both have non-O obtained outside thailand

* Passport, original and copy of visa, entry stamp

* TM30

* TM7

* STM2

* Overstay penalties form

* 2x photo

* Copy of house rental contract and original

* Photo in front of house

* Health insurance 100k USD

* wedding certificate + translation in english

* pension statement (but I also have 800k THB deposit)

* 2x 2000 THB

BANK

* I made a deposit of 800k on my personal savings account two months ago. The account is on MY NAME

* I have bank certificate stamped for the 800+ THB in my account

* Original bank booklet + copy

QUESTION: Will this suffice?

1. The account in on my name, my spouse name in not there

1. I have 800k , will they ask for 800k x 2 = 1.6M?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) is preparing for a retirement visa extension in Thailand and has listed the required documents, including an 800k THB bank deposit in his name. He questions if this deposit is sufficient, considering his Italian wife is a trailing spouse. The community response emphasizes that each applicant for a retirement visa must have 800k THB in their own name, and although the OP's wife is trailing, she will need her own separate finances in the future. It is also essential that the bank deposit is at least two months old and maintained above 400k THB, and the bank certification must be recent.

the easiest way by far is non-O and to deposit 800,000 THB in a Thai saving account on your name and let them sit for 60+ days (not one day less! personal experience...)

The information the OP has posted is essentially correct.

Each office may have slight variations on timing etc.

He will need to verify these at his local office.

The financial requirements are 800k in an account in his name only.

His wife as trailing spouse/ dependant requires no Financials as she is "piggy backing" on his,

He will be fine.

Here is a good resource with Phuket specific details BUT the essentials are mostly the same.

One note:

Non-o based on retirement extension does not require health insurance.

My advice is get a Visa agent for the first time. Sure you can do your self for a lot less money. But in the long run. The Vusa agency makes everything happen

I’m planning to apply retirement visa for my parents. From what I understand

The bank statement needs updated up to the date you apply.

Photo of person in front of house and inside the house in colour.

800k deposit 3 months before the date of apply and after. Just the person who apply for yearly extension. Not the one tail alone.

Please give a update after Friday visit to the IO.

By the way, which office are you going to apply?

@Leon ***
the requirement is 2 months before and 3 months after.

Never going below 400k.

Every year.

Each office may have slightly different requirements, pictures etc.

800,000 Each

You will also need your bank book up to date and all bank statements. Trailing spouse needs her own bank account with 400k in her own name.

no incorrect.

Each person who applies for a Non-O based on retirement needs 800k in an account in their name. Your wife can't use your account, she needs 800k in her own account if she's on a Non-O retirment.

@Garrett **********
that's a good point. For what purpose was the wife's Non-O issued? It can only be extended for that purpose.

I was told that in case of Trailing spouse need only ONE 800k deposit. I am going this friday I hope they don't ask twice the amount....
Chris *******
@Giovanni ***************
you are correct. 800k and wife as dependant.
David *********
@Giovanni ***************
if both of you are Non Thai you will need two separate accounts each with 800,000

@David ********
no wife be trailing , only the husband needs 800k

Firstly I think the money has to be in the account for 3 months (I think). You might want to check that. Also bank letter has to be issued within 72 hours of you visiting immigration. You may need to do a new one.
David *********
@Noel ******
Bank letter valid for 3 business days
Garrett ***********
@Noel ******
60 days
John **********
@Noel ******
again it depends on the immigration office. Most require 2 months seasoning of money and the bank letter should be no more than 7 days old. All require bank book update on the day. Until he speaks to his local office he won't know what their requirements are.
John **********
It depends on the immigration office. Have you gone and asked them whether you can do this and what their requirements are?
Giovanni ****************

@John *********
nope. Going this Friday

then I guess you will find out when you go.
