TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the cost of a one-year education visa in Thailand, specifically questioning whether 65,000 THB is a reasonable price. Multiple comments reveal that prices can vary, with options between 30,000 to 52,000 THB being more common. Some users warn about potentially corrupt practices in obtaining visas through certain agencies or schools. Recommendations include contacting various language schools and visa agencies for better pricing. There are also alternative suggestions like extending tourist visas for longer stays, but concerns are raised regarding the legitimacy of cheaper visas.
Eric *******
Way too expensive.

The usual price in a private school in Thailand for a one year ED visa all included is 40k Thb.

I forget what I paid for my volunteer visa but I am sure it was quite a bit more. My marriage visa cost LOTS more (wife, immigration paperwork, marriage paperwork, blah blah blah).

65K is a great prices to stay in Thailand. 180/baht a day.

The two reasons EDU visa haven't appeal to me.

A) Tests, immigration monitored progress

B) It may raise flags when entering Thailand. I had an immigration officer once tell me the EDU visa, isn't the best option for someone like myself (48 years old).
Edward ******
Good price.

Any suggestions of Thai Language school in Bangkok please?

my 6 month Ed visa during the 2020 lockdown was around 24,000 (including visa.) if I recall correctly a 1 year was around 35,000.

I could have, but I needed to return to Canada (for about 3 months) then I returned to Thailand on a normal tourist visa and transferred to a marriage visa while here.

TBH, now I'm looking at it more closely myself. It seems you have to pay constant extensions with that course which confuses me as to why? Might need to call them and question why you constantly have to keep paying for extensions if you are on an "education visa"
Daniel **********

@Richard *****
They all require these extensions every 90 days. Also don't know why.

Sounds awful expensive compared to the visa I got my girl

You can go to University for 50k and learn Thai on a 15 month visa. 65k is way too high for a language visa. A private school will also do it for 40k.

Just as an FYI.

There is no conversion fee and there is no extension fee.

A visa if you are converting inside the country is 2000₿ and every extension no matter the duration is 1900₿ paid directly to immigration.

These conversion and extension fees have nothing to do with immigration and are basically extortion from the schools charging them because they can. Most reputable schools will not charge you a fee to convert or to get an extension as long as you purchase tuition for a certain number of months.

If it's a bribery visa then all bets are off though and since they'll have you locked in, they can and will charge any fee they want to. And there's nothing you can do about it.

@Brandon ***********
And do you have an opinion about Pro Language being a reputable school?
Brandon ************
@Daniel *********
I don't know much about language schools really. I would go by the reviews (hopefully they have some) as that's how I chose my school. But the only thing I cared about when looking was the best school, so the list was pretty short.

@Brandon ***********
Seems like you have a recommendation? 🙂
Brandon ************
@Daniel *********
I went to Duke Language School which is widely regarded as the best. But it's also expensive (8000₿ per month, 3 hours per day, 5 days per week). It's a serious school that is only for serious learners. But they also have no other fees except 500₿ for the textbook each month. They provide all of the immigration documents for free as part of your program, and I think they're still sending an employee to immigration with the student for the initial conversion to help if there are any issues.
Marc *******
@Brandon ***********
Duke isn't the Best. But for the Price it's OK.
Nick *******

Frank-Steven ***********

So true, unfortunately. Why would the school charge a different price for visa conversion than they would for getting the visa at a consulate abroad? I would never pay that kind of brown envelope premium.

Is this a bullshit bogus visa? Watch out, you'll get problems in the future
Chris *****
Steve's right, ed visa must be accompanied by gov letter certifying the course, which only legitimate courses will be able to supply (although none of the schools I asked, including Duke, had heard of the letter in question).
Garrett ***********
@Steve *******
Not from an ED visa.

The bogus 15 month "ED visas" are causing problems for the idiots who bought them. They are already on a life ban from Elite Visa

@Steve *******
there is no such ban in the elite card program for people who previously had an ED visa. The staff at the elite program confirmed this 2 weeks ago. Volunteer visa, yes, but not ED

If you just want to stay here and not study you could almost stretch tourist Visas to one year. I believe the Multi Entry TR Visa if done correctly can net you 6 months then 2x border bounce with an agent to Cambodia gets you another 75x2 = 150 days. This'll run you around 15,000bht for 11-12 months, but more complicated.

You can get ED visas for

Both are real visas but it's not 100% legal, since you're buying them through corrupt immigration officers.

Contact multiple visa agencies on Facebook to get the best price. Don't mention how much other agents have asked for.
