Any tips on schools doing ED visas in Chiang Mai (that allow remote teaching)? Best price I'm getting is 70k baht here in Koh Phangan. Any remote schools that do remote teaching would be great, with price.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question seeks information on schools in Chiang Mai that offer ED visas while allowing for remote teaching, with a mention of a 70,000 baht price encountered in Koh Phangan. Comments clarify that ED visas require physical attendance at classes in Thailand and that online teaching does not qualify for such visas. Some users recommend ALA in Bangkok for their flexible schedule and suggest that Koh Phangan has options since it is populated by expats.

Surely there are language schools in Koh Phangan? The island is populated mainly by expats after all.

When went to ALA in Bangkok, they say their schedule is flexible and you can switch in person / online. You can contact them.

Why do you need to be in Thailand to do an online course?

he asked the exact same question immigration asks. Don't dis him because you don't like the question. It is very ligitimate. You must attend at least 160 hours of in-class lessons a year, and apply for an extension every 90 days with the paperwork the school gives you, showing you are attending classes, and making acceptable process in passing your classes. Immigration will test you at each extension using language you should understand and be able to answer based on how far along you are in your classes. Your visa might be for one year, but you still must extend it every 90 days. If you don't have these regular extensions you can be refused entry. The days of buying fake visas ended.

Getting visas outside of the province that you are living in causes problems.

If you want to live in Chiang Mai there's plenty of options.

Nice try, but you're actually going to have to attend classes in person if you want an ED visa. Also, they're cracking down on ED visas now (rightfully so). Not as easy to get anymore.

Online classes do not qualify for ED visa. You need an ED visa to physically attend classes in Thailand. You can attend remote classes from your home country and therefore do not need a visa for that.

It also wouldn't work because you have to go to immigration in the province of the school for your visa and extensions.

TBF You DONT actually need an ED visa to physically attend classes in Thailand.

the sentence structure could be better. The intention was that an ED visa is used for attending in person classes.
