Hi ! So im back since i made my visa ED 3 month ago. I have to extend in the end of this month. I got 2 choices : Extend 2 months or 3 months. 2 months = 1,900B or 3 month 4,900. Why its expensive more ? (3,800B normally right ? For 2 extensions) Its not 1,900B for 3 months ? They told me if i extend 3 months and i have to go back to my country (like 2 weeks) I still get my visa ED but in fact if i go out it cancel my visa ? Im so confuse and the more i ask them the more im confuse.... :(

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for clarity on extending their ED visa in Thailand, facing confusion about the differing costs quoted by their school versus the actual immigration fee. Comments from others reveal that extensions should cost 1,900 Baht regardless of the duration (2 or 3 months), and some schools may charge additional fees for handling paperwork. There's concern about potential scam practices among some schools inflating costs or not providing the required education, leading to wider discussions about fake students and regulatory crackdowns in the education sector.

And I can see that this isn't gonna end well. The ED visa system is RIFE with scam schools and scams period. I'd say IF you're paying more than the actual cost of an extension 1900baht you're in on the scam in some fashion.

I'm not judging you or your school, I'm saying it is what it is.. I can't see this conversation going any way but down from here though.

Good luck to all on the ED visa for studying thai (y)

We're done.

There are a couple schools I know that have the "special arrangement" of 4900baht for their ED extensions.

Here's a hand out (from an un-named school) showing a student how the special fee for the extension works.:O

@Diiz ********
the schools pay off someone to get 90 day extensions instead of the 60 that most legit schools get without the pay off. :O That's why it's confusing.

Thats why i git damn confusinnnng with price =A= dunno where it came from 5555 so i just keep in mind that i will go by myself :D

@Di**
, get the paperwork from your school and go apply for an extension of stay on your own at your immigration office.

ALL extensions of stays are 1900baht, no matter the amount of time they're issued for.

Yeah i sent a similar picture few month ago :D

you're going to a school that is greasing the wheels at the immigration office an probably fudging the attendance records too so that it shows you go the minimum required hours.

It's your call, but ALL extensions of stays const 1900baht.

I know 4 or 5 schools (in Bangkok and Pattaya) that have "arrangements" with the immigration offices where their students pay 4900baht for 90 day extensions, don't even go to the immigration office and don't even do 90 day reporting.

same in my school they said they will arrange everything for 5000 (paperwork+going to immigration + extension fee) but i wanna go on my own and just pay 1900 the real amount

Robert *******
Who is charging for this 4.900 Thb, I guess it is the school.
Robert *******
The Extension of Stay is 1.900 Thb at Immigration Office. Not understand why the school tell only for 2 months but with an extra of 3000 Thb for 3 months. Ask the papers needed from your school and go by yourself.

If you're not handing over cash to an immigration officer and receiving a receipt in exchange, there is something fishy going on.

Too many fake students!
Evie *****
Exactly Robert and genuine ones suffer told lot of russians doing scam, register and not attend, or school take monet and not supply classes, say they cant afford teachers, but they still take your money
Lloyd ********
You have been in Thailand over a year, they have clamped down on people using Ed visas to stay here.
Evie *****
Be careful of where registered for ed. Know someone who was registered but school not fix up visa, to them 2 days before 90days up,

Its my 1st visa ed extension

That’s not correct...sounds like scam

It’s only 1,900 to extend, but at the discretion of immigration as to whether they give you 60 or 90 days...I always got 90 days

If you leave while you have still more time on your stay, simply get re-entry permit that allows you to return and continue to stay up until the expiration of the stay

following cos ill be in the same situation next month 🙂
