How Will My 2-Day Overstay Affect My Upcoming Visa Application in Thailand?

Hey everyone. Just looking for opinion on my situation.

I made a balls up and thought my visa ran out today, except it was 2 days ago. I read the wrong part of the stamp and only realised when I went to immigration today to get my 30 day extension. I still got the extension no problem and paid 1000 baht. Got stamp in passport saying overstay by 2 days and fine paid. I plan to get a single entry visa at the end of this month. How much is the 2 day overstay likely to affect the chance of getting said visa.

Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user mistakenly overstayed their visa by 2 days and received a fine. They seek advice on how this overstay will impact their chances of obtaining a single entry visa at the end of the month. Comments suggest that while the overstay may not significantly hinder their application for most visa types, it could affect applications for specific visas such as the Thai Elite Visa and procedures in locations like Penang. Alternatives for obtaining a visa based on familial connections or other circumstances were also discussed.

Did you ever get your stamp problem resolved in Malaysia?

yes that got sorted the next day. The immigration office in Hat Yai made an error.

COULD be possible in Kota Bharu, Malaysia, no guarantee though. (so far seems to be rather 'relaxed' than other consulate)

My advice:

1. With your prior history, I can not see how you can get a tourist visa in Laos or Malaysia.

2. You have family in Thailand. Are they Thai? If you have a Thai wife, then you can get a Multiple Entry Non-O visa based on marriage easily from HCMC or Savannakhet, without proof of funds.

3. If you have a half-Thai child, then you can get a single entry Non-O visa based on visiting them from Laos.

4. If you wife's a teacher, then you can get a Non-O as a trailing spouse - which is the visa you should be using.

just as advice, do not take the family to Laos.

Make a plan B, after more than 13 months living in Thailand it is getting harder to get a short time visa.

I was planning to go to either Penang or possibly Laos as a trip with my family.

At the moment only effects application of the Thai Elite Visa and visa applications in Penang.
