My husband and I are going to move and retire in Thailand this October and we are planning to apply for the Elite family excursion visa but I have had 3 days overstay stamp on my passport when I was in Thailand during the covid period last year. I have noticed that one of the requirement is no overstay record for applying Elite visa. Are they strict about it? If so, do I have any other option to apply for another visa so that I can stay in Thailand? My husband and I are over 50s. We were thinking apply the Elite visa more suited for us since the retirement visa has to season 800,000 baht per person means (1.6M baht) and we still have to keep half of it for the rest of the year.
Thank you for advanced

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around the eligibility for the Elite family excursion visa due to a prior 3-day overstay in Thailand. The user considers this potentially disqualifying, as one requirement is to have no overstay record. The community responses indicate that an isolated 3-day overstay may not significantly impact the application, especially if the individual has since exited and re-entered Thailand. Additionally, there are discussions about alternative visa options like the retirement visa (which has stringent financial requirements) and the trailing spouse visa, which does not impose the same financial burden on the dependent.

Overstays under 72 hours don't prohibit you from obtaining the elite visa. 73 hours you probably won't be approved, depends which side of 3 days you're on.

Note the difference between Elite and retirement visa: Elite Visa is a cost, meaning the money is spent and will not remain in your bank account. The retirement visa however, while the
*******
k has to be kept in your bank account, it remains your money.
technically speaking it does not remain their money. It becomes the bankβs money. The bank then owes the amount to them. In a financial crisis, they might not get the money back. If you doubt me, study what happened in Cyprus.
Sydney Australia all i supplied was a letter from my employer stating my income is over the required monthly requirement for the visa was easy had pre-approval in less than 24 hours.
Funny bit was on arrival yesterday it took 3 immigration officers to decide what stamp to give me. June 2027 was the end result stamp
I'm guessing things have changed since you did it, here is the information as of today
Applicant must have a bank deposit of no less than 3 million bahts in Thailand or a bank deposit of no less than 1.8 million bahts and annual income of no less than 1.2 million bahts. Such amount must be maintained in bank deposit in full for at least one year, and keep at no less than 1.5 million bahts thereafter.
agree they are all over the place, even changes if we use the Camberra Embassy, they want more info plus can not do online lol. Sydney so very easy to deal with, took less than 24 hours for pre-approval email after applying online.
nope you need to show funds equivalent to that in your home country. If you get a multi entry visa you can also exit and enter just before your year is up and get stamped in for a second year. I'm currently on one myself. Feel free to DM me if you've further questions

What about "trailing spouse"? We got our Non O's outside of Thailand and applied for the year extension before the 90 days was up. My husband provided the proof of income, had our marriage certificate verified and I was stamped for a year as a trailing spouse... no income verification needed from me. I don't know if that works with the 800,000THB as we did income verification at our embassy, still allowed with Canada. Worth looking into...

You should look again at the retirement visa, but this time consider also a trailing spouse option. This means the primary visa holder must meet the financial requirements (800k/400k) but the trailing spouse has no financial requirements. While you do need to keep the 400k in the bank it remains yours, whereas with the Elite visa the money is gone the minute you purchase.
Hey John, from what I have been reading, and correct me if I am wrong, but the trailing spouse visa is usually tied to someone who has a working or education visa and want their better half to join them when they are gone for a long period of time
Ive been trying to find that and unable to, most of the sites only address the standard ones that we have mentioned. If you can post a link to what you have found it would be greatly appreciated
I know it's possible. I also know that you can not obtain the trailing spouse visa based on a retirement visa inside Thailand which is why you may be struggling to find the information. You should take a look on the evisa site

The option you're looking for is I believe "Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days)" note this option covers non-thai people, a passport with a long stay visa is sufficient

Do you not have to pay well over the amount mentioned for the elite visa? Fees for the visa?
This actually is a valid question, as we have learned a lot the past few days. The answer is no, it is a flat fee. The Elite VIsa works in conjunction with the Thai government, so you just pay the fee and that is it. There are different tiers that is involved after your 5 years as for an extension, basically money talks and, well you know the rest π€£
The initial part of my wife's question is obvious about the overstay and how it would affect the application process. We got the answer from the ELite Visa people when we talked to them last night. In a nutshell, if its an isolated event, more than likely its no big deal, but for repeat offenders it will be an issue.
As for the second part, basically the question was "is it worth the 800,000 bht to not go through the hassle of having to check in every 90 days and all the other stuff that goes along with the other visas. The other visas the money sits in the bank and you cant touch it. Its like you have a (fill in your favorite car here or motorcycle) sitting in the garage with a full tank of gas and the keys just hanging there, but you cant drive it. In this case the banks make out because they get to use your money to make money and you just have to sit there and kick rocks. In other words, for some people it is worth to pay the money to let the Elite Visa do the work.
What is your standard answer? If you don't understand English or can distinguish between questions and answers, why are you a moderator here? I had the same question from you, where I give an answer and then you never commented again. Sorry, but who should understand that.
I asked because his question didn't make sense. I'm a moderator here because I created this group 3 years ago. As for your question, you told a member that asked a rather simple question that you "PMed" them, and I asked why. It is a violation of the group rules to solicit services from members here and myself along with the moderation team works hard to mitigate spam and agents soliciting services from people. You answered that you wanted to write him in German, and that was that. What more did you want me to say? Do I need to spend 15 minutes out of my day every single time to explain why my life works the way that it works? I have shit to do, a lot of it. Sorry that's not good enough for you, if you'd like I can send you a paypal link, you can buy and hour of my time and I'll tell you anything you want to know.
I understand your rules and I will have to apologize for the PM comment, as like any fine print I am sure most of us haven't actually read it. I can assure you that it was an honest mistake and also no solicitation involved, just someone trying to help out. And to state the obvious, anyone could just click on a name to get more clarification on something, not everyone wants to air their private stuff here in the forum, especially with the group of trolls that seem to follow the comments like a bunch of Grateful Dead fans.
Finally a sensible answer. π Shall I now explain to you what I have to do? I just think it's stupid to just answer "what". What can just mean everything and is relatively inappropriate. And his answer or question was correct.
But of course it made sense to ask if the 1.6k on the account isn't better and cheaper than the elite visa. That didn't answer the question about the overstay, but it didn't miss the point.

The information you provided regarding having to keep half the 800,000 bt. in the bank all year round was useful to me. It used never be that way. I had the retirement ext. for 21 years before the Covid hit and sometimes used the money to buy and sell a condo if I came across a good deal. I have just renewed my retirement ext.again after being stuck in Europe since

As mentioned above, get a new passport.
I had a 1 day overstay in my passport and was declined the 5year elite visa last year during the height of the covid pandemic, i was already located within Thailand though.
