Do you need to have 500,000 baht in your bank account for 3-6 months or just is it just the final balance that needs to be 500,000?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for proving financial stability with 500,000 baht in your bank account varies by embassy. Some embassies may accept just the final balance, while others may require that the amount be maintained for 3 to 6 months to show stability. Recommendations suggest having the funds for a longer period to prevent any issues, but actual requirements differ based on the location of application and individual embassy rules.

I was told I had to hold that amount for at least 3 months. Washington DC embassy

So now I have to wait, leave the country, apply for the visa in a couple months 😓

The question is where will you be applying from, because every Embassy has different requirements.

really? Good afternoon. I have most of my money on exchange (binance//cryptos). Do you think it will been accepted? (Spanish embassy)

No. It needs to be in a regular bank account.

Some banks give ‘proof of balance’ reports, which if the address within matches your place of residence, can strengthen the use case of that document and reduce likelihood of them asking for 3-6m history

It really depends on embassy . I emailed Vienna embassy specifically asking about this issue. Because I’m not gonna have 500k sitting in my account during full 3 months.

They send me this : “You must maintain your balance of 500,000 THB during your stay in Thailand. You can use any source of fund as long as you reach the among prior to your visa application.”

You just need it in your bank account. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been in there. I transferred 500,000 baht into my bank account exported the bank statement and then took the money straight back out. Got approved within a couple of days

The fact that you were lucky with cheating for this requirement doe not mean that will work for everybody.

@Luit ****************
it’s not cheating bro. You just need to show you have access to that amount of money. I also used the same method for my girlfriend and I when we applied for our Australian work visas. Both approved - it’s not cheating bro

The visa requirements are you need to HAVE that money, not only to get the money only for the moment of approval.

Tricks like you did, make it now more and more difficult for others because most embassies now ask you to show you had the money for 3 or 6 months already.

The visa requirement is that you HAVE the money for as long as you visit Thailand.

I gave them a letter from broker that states I have a liquid account value of xxxxx. I have no issues with that for my spousal visa.

hey there. In my case I have the money on my crypto Exchange (binance/ in spot). Do you think that it will been accepted?
Morgan ************
@Jose **********
no it won’t be. You need to transfer it into a recognised bank account, create the bank report and then you can put your money back into crypto

Depends where you apply from. Search the group for where you intend to.

It's best to have at least 500,000 baht over the course of 3-6 months. My understanding behind the reason for this is to demonstrate that your monetary balance was not injected last minute to give the impression of financial stability, which would defeat the purpose of this requirement. That said, I would think that the strictness of this rule varies by country and embassy

this depends on the embassy where you apply through their E-Visa System. Some accept an up-to-date statement, others want to see 3 months of account statements, and others want to see 6 months of bank statements
