How should I approach my DTV visa application as a remote worker with family in Thailand?

Hello everyone,

First of all, Iโ€™d like to say a huge THANK YOU to this group for all the amazing advice and support. Itโ€™s incredible to have such a helpful community when navigating something as complex as the DTV visa process! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have a few questions about my specific situation, and Iโ€™d really appreciate your insights:

1. About my work situation:

Iโ€™m a social media specialist, content creator, and graphic designer, and Iโ€™d like to work on my projects in Thailand with my family. I currently have two contracts with companies in Switzerland, providing me with a monthly salary, and I can work remotely from anywhere.

In addition, I own a Swiss-based LLC (Sร rl) and plan to develop an online e-commerce project next year.

โ€ข Do you think itโ€™s better to include my two employment contracts in my DTV application, or should I draft a remote work contract with my own company? Which option would be more suitable?

2. About my family (partner and child):

My son is 3 years old, and Iโ€™d like to know how the DTV application process works for family members.

โ€ข Should I apply for their visas at the same time as mine, or should I wait until my own DTV is approved?

โ€ข I also have a question about the financial requirements for dependents: Does my child need to meet the 500,000 THB bank balance requirement individually, or is this amount simply added to my own financial proof or he don't need 500,000 THB ?

Your advice would mean the world to me! Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to share your experiences and recommendations. ๐Ÿ™

Looking forward to hearing from you all, and thanks again for this amazing group!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking advice about their DTV visa application process for themselves and their family, given their remote work situation as a social media specialist from Switzerland. Key points include whether to include existing employment contracts in the application or create a remote work contract, the timing for applying for family visas, and understanding financial requirements for dependents regarding the 500,000 THB bank requirement.

The answers will vary depending on the embassy you apply from. Taipei likes existing work only with payments evidenced on bank statements. Submitting the contracts you have, coupled with salary deposits highlighted on bank statements will be easiest.

Thanks Andi,

Iโ€™ll apply from Switzerland embassy.

I have the impression that they are lighter in terms of demand and condition compared to what I see on the group. But I want to put all the chances on my side.

Yes, it is much less demanding than other embassies. Have you emailed questions you have to the Thai Embassy in Bern ?

No yet, but I will for sure if I donโ€™t have the informations here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m understanding that apply depends mainly of the conditions of the embassy.

Correct, it is embassy specific although there are a lot of common criteria for approval. You have everything needed to be approved going by your OP.

Best to go with your existing contracts as you can link them to money arriving in your bank account.

You get your DTV first and once approved your family applies each quoting your DTV. You should be able to show the same funds. Each application has to pay the visa fee.

thanks John for your recommendation ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I'd like to add that your partner can not apply as a dependant to you unless you are married... he/she would need to apply for their own DTV or a different type of visa.

hmm in my Required Documents forms for DTV3

They said :

- Proof of relationship to the DTV visa holder :

e.g. a copy of marriage certificate

or birth certificate

or certificate of adoption.

๐Ÿ˜ Could you please share me where you have the information that we must be married pls ?

@Johanne *********
you must be married, the marriage certificate is for a spouse and the other 2 are for kids

well you kind of write it yourself: "proof of relationship to the DTV visa holder: e.g. a copy of marrige cerificate..."

I have not read any official document about this that is specific for DTV, other than the proof you just mention. Just know what's been accepted as a dependant on other visa types...

For instance, in many countries cohabitation is defined by law, but in Thailand your legal marital status is concidered as single even if you lived with your partner for 20 years etc.

You can also read about it in previous posts such as:

Thank you, I understand better this way, it was not very clear to me. We are lucky that my partner is my partner in my company. It will be easier that way ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

it is what it is, married, not partner. They can submit an application as an employee of your company, authorized to work remotely and show her own 500k bank statement. Or go the soft power route

I will contact the embassy to be sure because I understood that a birth certificate of our child would be proof of our relationship. As he is the father, even if we are not married, he has the right to accompany his family. (Married or not ๐Ÿค”) otherwise I do not understand the "/" certificate of adoption" they require, our child is not adopted. I understood that it was either /x evening /x or /x

As my companion is my official partner of our company. I think it is better for him to make his own request for a DTV with a contract that we will make with our company. As our company is developing and we cannot yet get out of income, I am afraid that they require evidence of our company's income. (we were both employees of another company last year)

We have a beautiful project on which we have been working for months and we expect to have a good income within 6 months thanks to our company. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Financially, we both have more than double required on our respective accounts.

NOPE... not going to happen. Sorry ๐Ÿ˜”

@Johanne *********
the birth certificate is proof for your kids. But it isn't proof for your partner however you try and twist it. Even civil ceremonies don't count. You must be actually married. Sorry I didn't pick up on that earlier
