TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost of employing an agency for a retirement visa in Thailand varies widely according to personal circumstances and agency fees. Responses from the community suggest costs ranging from 2,000 baht for a DIY process to upwards of 60,000 baht when using an agency. Some specific comments indicate a common fee of about 11,000 baht for agency services. It costs around 11,000 baht for a retirement visa, but your application needs to be complete and it's a quick process. I used VisaThailand, a very reliable and competent website; I recommend them.
the whole logistics of arranging to rent my home, sell things and car, go to Thailand, get medical insurance (maybe) WITHOUT knowing if I will get the visa. Getting refused for whatever biazzare reason would be stressful, with no home to go back to. Maybe I should get the visa then fly back to the UK and sell things and organise renting off home???
I left everything behind: house, car, family, and I applied for my visa in France. I'm now living a peaceful retirement here in Pattaya, and if my visa isn't extended for any reason, I'll either move to a neighboring country or return to France and rent an Airbnb.
are you still in the UK? It’s better & cheaper to get your retirement visa sorted BEFORE you leave the uk. Search ‘Smile Visa Hua Hin’ they’ll help you out
