What are the typical fees for agents assisting with retirement visas in Thailand, and what do they include?

Retirement visa - agents - price?

If the AGENT handles the financial requirement, what’s the typical fee all in?

INCLUDING the initial 3 month extension, then the 12 month, and is the opening of a bank account usually included in the fee?

Any recommendations for agents from anyone who has done this RECENTLY? (last 12 months)

Please quote their fee and what is or isn’t included) 🙏🏼

and does it matter if the applicant isn’t in the same region of Thailand as the agent? (and neither is the bank branch?)

Just requesting comments about the fees please, not opinions on the use of agents or anything else you fancy ranting about 😌

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discussion centers around the costs associated with hiring agents for obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand. The fees reported by individuals range from 16,000 to 70,000 baht, depending on the services included—for instance, some quotes encompass both the initial 3-month extension and the 12-month extension, while others may charge extra for bank account setups. Users have shared varied experiences and recommendations of agents from various regions, especially Chonburi and Pattaya, addressing concerns about regional limitations and potential long-term commitments to a single agent. The dialogue emphasizes the importance of achieving legal compliance and highlights contrasting views on the need for agents versus a DIY approach.

what a sad and ignorant individual you are, I’ve seen enough of your gutless comments on here. Blocked.

As long as you realize that it's illegal to circumvent the financial requirements for a visa. Using an agent doesn't make it legal. Otherwise it's 2,000 baht for one year paid directly to immigration.

I hope that comment doesn't turn around and bite you in the A$$ when your "agent" does a runner when renewal time comes.

From what I see others doing, 50-70,000B 'under the table.' But it is a risk, I think that's what soem are trying to tell you

@Paul ********
apart from getting ripped off I know of at least 3 instances in the very long time I have lived here when a whole group were rounded up and deported. In one case several immigration officers were sacked for complicity.

yeah but you're getting what you didn't ask for anyway aren't you? What are you going to do about it? Perhaps the warnings aren't just for you. You might be surprised to believe this but other people are reading this also. In the meantime if you're willing to spend between 50 and 70 k then I'll do it for you. I'll send you my bank account number.

Chonburi, ive asked round and prices range from

to
*****
, usually around the
*****
mark. One thought ( not a rant) if you open bank account somewhere you dont live theres a high chance you will be charged a fee evertime you use an atm.

Every agent i asked quoted the higher fee for the first year and then a much reduced fee every year after.

I decided to do it myself, 1900, big saving as long as you tivk all the boxes.

Once a person has the visa, opening another account in their location would be straightforward.

The most common number I've heard bandied about is 50,000 baht. It may be a little difficult to find actual experiences because there still aren't a lot of people due to Covid. Everyone is just using covid extensions rather than resorting to agents for the last 2-3 years.

The biggest warning about agents is that once you use an agent, you're going to have to use that agent every year whether you want to or not. They will usually get you an extension from an office where you don't live, and is well known to other immigration offices as a "compromised" office where agents get their sketchy stamps from. So if you try to do it on your own the next year, no immigration office will touch your passport.

Not strictly true Brandon. My husband and I have used an agent in Pattaya for the last 4 years but this year having met all the necessary requirements my husband has received his Non O retirement extension from Samui immigration with me as a trailing spouse. It was however extremely difficult and we were made to jump through all sorts of hoops before the extension was finally granted.

In reply to the OP we previously paid 20,000 baht each to the agent for 12 month extensions.

It actually works better if you know where you are and you specify where you are and other people where you are might be able to assist you with your question.

Because doing a renewal in a location where you are not is not the best solution for you.

maybe doing things as legal and above board is better than cheapest. You should get your visa in the province where you live.

didn’t ask about the cheapest or the most/least legal. Did ask you directly why you claim the “best solution” is being in the same region as the agent though. Answer the actual question/s or just scroll on please.

doesn't matter where you are for the agent. They can make it work. Big agencies like TVC have clients from all over the country, but based in BKK

If you want to find out more ,I would suggest joining a Facebook page for Chang Rai and asking agents there 🙏😎
