TLDR : Answer Summary
With a retirement visa in Thailand, you can enter and exit as many times as you want, provided you have a multiple re-entry permit. This permit allows for unlimited travel in and out of Thailand without losing your visa. It's advisable to always obtain the re-entry permit, especially if planning to travel frequently, to avoid complications that could arise if you forget to get one.

re-entry permit is a stamp in the passport. Do you have a stamp like this? If you say you paid for it you probably have it.

Just remember to get a re entry permit each time or buy a multiple re entry stamp if you intend to travel a lot. If you forget to buy you lose your visa and have to start again! (Spoken from experience even after living here 10 years! I'd had a stressful year & simply forgot)

you can get it either at the provincial immigration office, or the airport before you leave. Generally it makes sense to get it at the immigration office at same time as your annual extension but if you don't have one you can get it at the airport, just leave a little extra time.

It’s a very small amount of money to get them multiple reentry. Even if you think you’re only gonna leave once I would strongly suggest getting multiple reentry just even if you wanna go to another country for a short visit.

Ridiculous. If you’re only going to leave the country once in the year why on earth would you buy a multiple re-entry permit? Buy a single for 1000 baht and save yourself 2800 baht. If you need one on the hurry up you can get it at the airport if your local immigration office is closed, at the weekend, for example.

might be ridiculous….but a mate FORGOT to get buy a re-entry at the airport so he had to start the whole retirement process all over again. Life happen …emergency trips too. 3800b. Multi. Peace of mind

I do see your point, but I’ve been here a long time and never yet made that mistake. If anyone does feel the need for an ‘insurance policy’ they only have to buy a single entry permit, for 1000 baht, when they renew their extension. No need to buy a multiple entry permit. Each to their own.

I got a non o retirement from uK 90 days single entry , it's my first time to Thailand I will extend for one year when I am there , open bank account etc, do I have to request multiple entry extension and will they allow it , as my first 90 day visa is single entry ?

it’s at the end of the 90 days when you get the one year extension when you sign up for the multiple reentry. Make sure you tell them that’s what you want.

can I apply for that extension before the 90 days is up ? Like a month in advance, I believe if I had money in thai bank for 2 months , that maybe possible right ?

if the money has been in your account for 2 months then you can apply for extension of stay ( retirement visa) if you are on a non o visa. That can be done usually when there is 30 days or less on your visa

read the question and give accurate information. If you don't know. Better keep silence.

A retirement visa has no 'single' or 'multiply entry'

You need a re-entry to leave the country.

as said don't think wrong information. Don't need anything to leave country but if want to come back and carry on with retirement extension. Then need a multi re-entry . The question said go in and out.
