TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O visa itself cannot be renewed; instead, you apply for an extension each time, which is treated like a new application. Extensions can be obtained on a yearly basis, allowing for long-term stay in Thailand without needing a new visa. If you leave Thailand, you can obtain a re-entry permit to return. For those considering long-term residency, the Elite visa offers a hassle-free alternative, though it's more expensive. Additionally, if you're married to a Thai national or over 50 years old, there are specific extension options available.

If You are merried with a Thai, you can make a merried extension every year on a immigration in Thailand.

If you are +50 years old you can do the same as retirement extension.

If you are thinking long term then you may want to have a look at the Elite visa. Initially it seems like a lot of money, but when you break it down it may not be so much to pay for a hassle free stay.

There will be many that disagree with me. Many will say it’s only 5,700B per year (1,900 + 3,800) versus 50k per year (20 year option at 1M Baht) But it depends on how you value your time and peace of mind. Fast track through immigration, complimentary transport and stuff that you can’t put a value on, but if you have it it seems priceless.

If you were to poll people with an Elite visa you’ll almost certainly find an overwhelming majority that say it’s worth it.

You can stay in Thailand permanently by getting an Extension of Stay each year. You never need another visa. If you want to leave Thailand and return you get a Re-entry Permit. You can do this as many times as you like.

They are currently still giving Covid extensions, though they’ve become more difficult. You need to go to your nearest Immigration Office with the necessary paperwork and apply. That way you don’t need to leave the country.

from what I know, I think the max for extensions is 60 days. I am about to reach 60 days. Which is why idk what I should do now if I want to stay longer

When you enter Visa Exempt you get 30 days. You can then extend once for another 30 days. However, under special Covid rules you can then apply for a ‘Covid extension’ to stay longer.

They may stop giving this extension but you can currently apply.

if you have a visa exemption and have already extended, do I just leave the country for the day and return to get another visa exemption stamp?

You can. Companies used to offer ‘border runs’ where you’d jump in a minivan and they’d take you to the nearest border and back again. More complicated due to Covid. Land borders only just opening again and you need a Thailand Pass.

If you do it too many times you can be flagged by immigration.

You can't renew a visa. You can apply for an extension which is like a new application every time.

Are you on the initial 90 day Non-O visa or are you on an extension?

For what reason?

I’m planning on retiring to Thailand and have an interest in the Non Immigrant OX which is the 5 years visa

I don't analyse people's profiles. Are you Australian? By a strange twist of fate, if you apply for an OX through the Sydney Consulate, you can get five years without transferring a single baht to a Thai bank account. It's all based on what you have in Australia

the OX is a 10 year visa and quite rare nowadays. It may be difficult to find anyone with experience with it to give advice. But you get 5 years initially then you can extend one time for another 5 years according to the MFA website

I’m interested in the 5 years and I can extend for another 5 years. How much is the bank deposit amount?

this is what I found. But you really need to find out what your local embassy/consulate requires since they are the ones whose requirements you'll have to meet
