90 days is just how long the visa is valid for so you can enter thailand and get stamped in for 60 days. IF you needed more time you could get a 30 day extension of stay at the immigration office for 1900baht.
There is really NO official rule about how long you can stay inside thailand on tourist visas in a specific amount of time. That rule was rescinded LONG ago.
I know people who have been here years on back-2-back tourist visas

, there is a company down there called Samui Visa run. They're on f/b check and see their schedule, they run to the border and back. they also have visa runs to a thai consulate so you can get a tourist visa too I believe.Tamra **********

there are no 15 day visa exempt entries by land anymore :/ they changed on Dec 31, 2016 and went back to 30 day visa exempt entries but put a limit of two in a year by land.

The immigration chief in Phuket appears to be hard core. You only have to read some of the press releases he comes out with from time to time.
It's up to you but I would say to avoid Phuket if you have a lot of history if it's possible.

Yes mate. Particularly on visa exempt entries if you have a few in your passport. It seems to run hand in hand with them southern land borders.

, there is no amount of time you need to be out of the country BUT be advised you could be questioned by passport control when entering visa exempt like that. According to the rules you can be asked to show proof of adequate funds (40K baht per family or 20K baht a person) proof of onward travel, and proof of a hotel booking.As long as you don't have an extensive history of living here on back to back tourist visas or visa exempt entries it is unlikely you will be questioned (but you could, so at least have the proof of funds).

Tamra N David nope that is canceled. It was originally no more than THREE 30 day visa exempt entries in 180 days, BUT as I said that rule was canceled.
