TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for a tourist visa varies by embassy, with some reporting approval within 3 to 7 days. It is necessary to send the actual passport to the Thai embassy, along with the application fee and a self-addressed return envelope for the safe return of the passport. The tourist visa is valid for 90 days from the issue date, allowing for a 60-day stay in Thailand upon arrival, with the possibility to extend for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office.
