Just a general question, but how likely is it to get approved for a Non-immigrant B visa if you do not have a Bachelor's degree? For example for an English teaching job, would a teaching certificate be suitable for approval? What about for an experienced sports coach? (Martial arts/Muay Thai)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Obtaining a Non-immigrant B visa for teaching or coaching in Thailand typically requires a Bachelor's degree due to Thai law. While there may be some alternative avenues, such as working for language schools with different requirements, the legal stipulation for teaching positions remains stringent, particularly in public and international schools where a Bachelor's degree and teaching qualifications are mandatory.

a legal teaching job is going to require a degree

Do you have any other skills beside sport teaching ? Maybe get a bachelors degree before trying to become a teacher. Too much competition. Looking for long term visa , maybe buy elite.

Masters degree. OR an MBA even

Law requires a bachelors degree to teach in Thailand, and a Master degree for a foreigner to teach at a university. Other jobs don't have an educational requirement by the MOL, teaching does though.

In the past, I saw plenty of examples. But that was 15-20 years ago.

Yet this rarely seems to be enforced or at least, it wasn't in the past. Not sure about now.

I've never seen someone without a degree get a workpermit. Some places were able to hire foreigners with different titles like "consultants" that were supposed to be non teaching positions, but never as teachers.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. How can I find out what other jobs have educational requirements? As I mentioned I am a sports coach, and would be interested in working a coaching job. Would I likely need some kind of certification?

@Kyle ******
you need a work permit to do any kind of work for wages, or for free. In order to teach you must have a certified as being real four year university degree, in any subject. To forgo that you'll pretty much need a professional career in your sport to even be considered by the international schools that hire foreign sports coaches.

@Kyle ******
Ministry of Labor, they issue the work permit which you need for the Non-B.

Nope. Have to have a Bachelors as per Thai law. There are way’s around it but usually aren’t worth the time or the risk. You could try language schools, it seems they have different qualification requirements at times. All of the language schools/private schools/public schools I’ve dealt with require bachelors degrees.

thank you. Could you please expand a little bit on the alternative work around?

@Kyle ******
I’ve just heard stories here. I’ve always done things by the book and haven’t needed those alternatives. Sorry.

Work illegally and hope you don't get caught.
