Hi everyone! I’ve been searching through this group and have found it both helpful and overwhelming. I’m hoping someone may be able to advise me on what my best steps are. I want to move to Thailand next year, either January or February to Kanchanaburi. I am hoping to teach English in a school near there. I’m currently studying for my TEFL but I do not have a bachelors degree. Will this affect my chances of obtaining a business visa? Am I right to assume the best visa to apply for is a Non-Im Multi Entry B? If I don’t go down the teaching route and work online, how’s best to apply for a visa for that/the jobs themselves? Sorry for such a long post! Any help is greatly appreciated! X

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on moving to Thailand to teach English in Kanchanaburi without a bachelor's degree. They are unsure about the visa options, particularly the Non-Immigrant B visa, and whether they can obtain a work permit. Comments suggest that while a degree is typically required for a Non-Immigrant B visa, some positions may be available without one. A common recommendation is to arrive on a tourist visa, seek employment, and then apply for the necessary work permit and visa through an employer.

I can only give advice as I do many times on this page. If you like to live, work and stay inside Thailand do it legal. If you wish to work without a Work Permit and the needed Non Immigrant B visa it is totally your own decision. I deleted comments that you can work illegal in Thailand, sorry members but advice to break the laws in Thailand is not the advice we like to see on this page.

To work in Thailand you need a Work Permit and the visa that allows you to work in combination with the work permit. This Work Permit is applied for by your employer at the Ministry of Labor and with documents from your Employer you can apply for the Non Immigrant B visa at a Thai Consulate. Best advice is before you start to do any work, discuss with your employer to get both documents. The comments as I know a guy who teach, or you can work but it's very dicey does not help. Get the Work Permit, get the Non Immigrant B visa and than start to work. If you do it the other way around, you work illegal in Thailand and face all the consequences when arrested.

100% you need a degree now. My daughter did a TEFL Course and worked for 6 years at an International School. Last year there was a big clampdown and she had to return to UK where she is now studying for a degree. Don't be fooled into the trap of getting a fake degree online as you will get caught and face stiff penalties.

You will certainly need a degree to teach at an International School. There are however plenty of language schools and rural schools where it may not be an issue.

You should coe on visa exempt and loo for jobs although you may get one without a degree you wont get a decent salary, 30k/mnth as someone ele suggested btter off going to cambdia as they do nt require a degree

You can't get a nonB visa for teaching without a job offer and paperwork from the school. Just get a tourist visa and look for a job when you're here. Not having a degree will reduce your options, but it is not insurmountable.

It's been awhile since I had my Non B with work permit (Non - B means Non-Immigration business visa - confusing). But as I recall I needed my degree. However, many of my teaching colleagues were able to skirt the requirement. My advice to you is get a METV in your home country (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) come to Thailand - check out the scene and review your options.. Things will look differently once you are here. I am quite sure if you like it here - you will find a way to stay.

You need a degree as part of the non b application process/criteria. Look at Cambodia or telesales within Thailand but most I’ve seen advertise in Bangkok or Chang mai.
