TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, a school in Thailand can hire an assistant teacher without a degree, provided the individual holds a Non-B visa and a corresponding work permit. While it is permissible for short-term employment (one to two years), the individual will not be eligible for a teaching license or waiver. It's advisable to obtain a degree for long-term career opportunities in education, as the trend is moving towards requiring higher qualifications.

Yes they can. You will not get a teaching license or a teaching license waiver though. Get a degree, even a cheap (real) one, the days of hiring assistant teachers are quickly coming to an end.
