Hi all.

I would be interested if anyone has experience or knowledge on using the Non o retirement visa and staying just the three months then returning home.

Then repeating this 3 or 4 months later and the same the year after.

How do the Immigration officers look upon this?

Do they expect you to get the 1 year extension?

Thank you
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around the use of the Non-O retirement visa for three-month stays in Thailand, with users sharing their experiences of leaving and re-entering the country multiple times a year. Comments indicate that many individuals have successfully done this over the years without any issues from immigration authorities, and they affirm that applying for the one-year extension is not mandatory if you do not wish to. It is recommended that holders of the Non-O visa ensure they meet all basic requirements, including financial stipulations.

From what I read on the embassy website, I got an idea that if a foreign visitor has an acquainted (friend) who is a Thai citizen that owns a house registration, the Thai can provide an affidavit letter for the visitor to apply for a 60-day stay, which can make the total stay longer than 30 days (up to 90 days). There is no mandatory requirement to prove the acquaintance between the two parties and also the visitor perhaps is not required to stay the entire time at the reference house registry of the Thai.

Get a multiple entry permit.

Peter Eastgate . . I know several people who do exactly this twice during a one-year period. Nobody forces you to apply for the 1-year extension
